MOSCOW — A Western military attack on Syria will only create more problems in the region, lead to more bloodshed and result in the same sort of “catastrophe” as previous Western interventions in Iraq and Libya, Russia’s foreign minister, Sergei Lavrov, said Monday.

“Hysteria is growing and confrontation is incited,” Lavrov said in what he portrayed as an emergency press conference. He said the United States and its European allies have condemned the regime of Bashar al-Assad without any evidence that it actually used chemical weapons in an assault on a Damascus suburb on Aug. 21.

China's president aims to clean up Communist Party from within while also silencing external critics. Russia condemns ‘hysteria’ over Syria Will Englund AUG 26 As Assad regime’s stalwart ally, Moscow says the West is ready to act before evidence is in hand.

Turkey, Britain and France all indicated on Monday that they would back the Obama administration if it decides to take action against Syria in response to the alleged attack, even without a United Nations mandate.

Russia has been a stalwart ally of Assad, refusing to allow United Nations action to intervene in Syria’s conflict. On Monday, the newspaper Izvestia published an interview with Assad in which he warned the West against military intervention and noted that Russia continues to sell arms to Damascus under the terms of existing contracts.

How old are you? And what do you know about Russian bureaucrats? Our pencil pushers are amateurs compare to Russians. Your naivety and luck of the knowledge of Russian government system is amazing.

Putin is the only reason they have a nuclear program?

Gee, I’ll have a bit of whatever you’re drinking. Some good acid in there ;).

Not really. That too, of course. But Putin is pretty set on saving both Russia and its Christian Church. And keeping the muslims dazed, confused and paying is doing the job while grabbing influence, which is always positive.

>>>>Putin has been playing used car salesman to Iran for years, selling them stuff falling apart and getting paid good money. While at the same time doing close espionage and some low-level sabotage.

You can thank the Russians for the fact that Iran hasn’t had fullscale nuke production for years.

What is also known is that Putin and Netanyahu are playing an extremely close game. When Putin has released new air defense missiles, for example, he has given the remote-destruct codes to Netanyahu. That has happened at least a couple of times.

Another item: Stuxnet. This was an Israeli product, althouugh Obama has tried to brag it onto himself. But the fact is, the people planting it into Iranian computers seem to have been the Russians. The number two in the series, which Obama also has tried to take credit for but which he cannot tell anything about, was also an Israeli product. Its task - which it did flawlessly - was to map the location of all the Pak nuclear warheads.<<<<

Bingo. It took Russians a couple years to teach Chicoms how to have a bomb back to 1950s. Just think about it, full production cycle, training, equipment and technology. Now look at what was China back to 1950s and compare it to Iran. It was an ox and a cart and Iran is rather technologically advanced nation. If Russians really wanted or at least stayed aside Iran could have a bomb a decade ago.

Kerry’s “make no mistake” is the same BS as Obama’s “Let me be clear”. Total lies.

Putin’s interest is only power. Look at Russian economy today. Russia have best agricultural land in the world but imports 70% of the food from other countries. Same with electronics, cars, heavy machinery and more. Aircraft industry practically dead. Military production going down too. Good leader would do everything to elevate his own country out of poverty but nothing is done. The only reason that Russia is afloat is natural resources.

IMO, bluff. I don’t think Assad is stupid enough to fight both the jihadis and the Israelis at the same time. He has enough on his plate with the jihadis alone. However, I don’t believe we should get involved when arabs are fighting arabs.

Russia built Iran's Bushehr nuclear reactor and supplies their nuclear fuel.

The Iranian nuclear threat is the Russian nuclear threat.

Rosatom Ready To Hand Bushehr Nuclear Plant To Iran - August 09, 2013 - The head of Russian nuclear regulator Rosatom has said that state company will soon sign documents transferring operational control of the Bushehr nuclear power plant to Iran. "Bushehr is currently operating at 100-percent capacity and the process of preparing it for transfer to the project originator is concluding," Rosatom's Sergei Kiriyenko said. The "project originator" is Iran.

Please take your head out of your ass.

Before you rush to embrace the Russian, you might take at look at who he is.

Remember when Ronald Reagan told Gorbechev to “tear down this wall”? You would never guess who was a KGB agent in East Germany during that time. Remember that whole ‘evil empire’ thing? Putin was a member of that apparatus that made it evil.

I’m not saying believe Kerry, but I am saying don’t make Putin a hero because you share a common enemy.

Putin served his country. He has stated that Communism was a failure and could never work.

Many have misunderstood his statement about the fall of the Soviet Union being a catastrophe....It wasn’t because he missed the Soviet Union, and wanted to return to it....it was more a statement on just how badly mishandled the transition was in the first few years after the fall, I think he has some legitimate points there.

Mmmm...

Some of the Bushehr reactor is Russian, after the Iranians did a lot of trial and error building. Some of the fuel supply has been a coop with the Russians. Both lines of cooperation have been more remarkable for their failures than for their strides forward, to the point that the Iranians have been threatening to withold payment, and intel has been floating freely from the Russian contractors to Israel. As well as access to the reactors for Mossad and Aman.

If Russia wanted to supply Iran with nukes, they would have easier ways, airhead. There’s several operational goals here, all of which are obviously too complicated for you.

Maybe if you concentrated on something besides assology?

Russia says that Iran will not use the nuclear fuel Russia supplied them to make a bomb, and you actually believe them.

You are about as intelligent as Imam Obama who promised his "reset" with the Russians would persuade them to prevent the Iranian nuclear threat when it is Russia which is the source of that threat.
