So, the US/UN consortium had this teed up for use.
The statement is “against outside foreign aggression”, and does not provide anything other than verbal cover for the “rebels” having gotten some of either these WMDs (which of course the dems will never acknowledge came from Iraq/Saddam, but they did) OR we supplied them to the rebels (a chilling possibility to “wag the dog” on command).

As bad as it is, the Russians make sense— there are none but civilians in the claims of the use of chem weapons. No dead rebels— interesting enough on its own. This is the kind of thing that has been done in hundreds of past “civil” wars (like in the Balkans, or Katyn Forest in Poland). So we are being sold a bill of goods, with the idiots at the UN as rubber stamp artists. There is no impetus for us to be their other than once again the liberal chicken hawks and their rino pals in the defense industry (McCain pimping for them with Graham). The “rebels” ARE al-qaeda— and there is nothing to support us helping them. Disgusting.

No, but it should be the anti-war right calling them on the absolute lies that lead from Benghazi, to prop up the Muslim Brotherhood... as US policy. Along with supporting al-qaeda in Syria vs the supposedly greater threat of Iran/shiites? This is the Saudis calling all the shots, and us as mercs for their needs. Jimmy Carter writ large, with a marxist muslim bent with our new mulatto version of him.

Anyone watching Brett Baier? long piece on Syria, especially about all the various rebel groups, their names, what positions they hold, what positions Assad holds (....with maps & graphs-—country map splits Syria nearly in half.

Then to the round table. Not a ripple in anyone’s glass-pond mind that the Obama adm said that they have definitive proof that Assad was responsible for the chem attack-—not in the body of Baier’s prog and not in the round-table discussion.

[IF the adm said “definitive proof,” they said it in an announcement AFTER the Kerry and Carney pressers.]

In fact, Krauthammer had only this to say in the roundtable:

Two choices: “He [Obama] can do a demonstration of conscience or he can do a strategic maneuver. It is not about him; it is not about his conscience, his manhood. It’s not about showing the world that he is strong. This is about whether the US is going to try to alter the course of the war. If it’s not, then he should not do anything....”

Krauthammer then cited and agreed with Gen Keane from earlier in the show-—destroy all the airfields, destroy Assad’s air power, change the balance of power. We can do all that without putting any soldiers on the ground.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
No mention of removing chem weapons!!!
So.... I guess the dream and hope is that the rebels will be so grateful and unified that Assad’s air superiority has been destroyed that they will voluntarily hand over all the chem weapons. Well...”hand over” would require boots on the ground to receive them. We will give them an address and they can ship them to us.
Who used wmd? The Al Qaeda or the government fighting the terrorist. They are leaving that out because there is no proof. NONE. We all agree that they were used in the middle of the night but by whom? Assad didn’t need them. His army had routed the Al Qaeda. They were desperate. How can our government lie to us again? This is endless— Gulf of Tonkin— never happened. “WMD” in Iraq never happened. What are these jokers going to do— shoot missiles at chemical stockpiles — what? Shooting missiles at sovereign nations violates the UN charter and international law. This is insanity. What are they doing?
AMAZING how quiet the Anti-War liberal left is on yet another pending undeclared war by the Peace Prize President Obama, isn't it??
LBJ went from being a so called great president with the liberals with his war on poverty, which is still being lost, to one of the worse presidents ever after he deepened the Nam War.
Now, Obozoliar appears to be following in the footsteps of LBJ with his lies about Assad and Syria, while covering for the Muslim Brotherhood Thugs and al Queda in Syria.
Maddening!!
The American people do not want this war...on all sides of the aisle! Yet our media, our leaders do and don’t give a crap what the country wants anymore.
I was reading comments at the NYT article about Kerry’s presser today. 100 posts to 1 do not want this war. Same thing at papers all over the country!
I don’t even think the NSA scandals generated such overwhelming opposition with both Dems and Repubs. The people are alarmed and troubled. They sense danger, and Obama adm, Congress and media are saying, “Shush...we know best.”
The whole parade today was to get the poll numbers up. THAT’s what is disturbing Obama. He needs to get the numbers against intervention in Syria to shift. 60-70% against. Don’t think Obama will give the go til those poll numbers shift.
“Baier’s Round Table was disappointing.”
Same word in my mind. Whole prog, in fact, re: Syria coverage. Breakdown of rebels was interesting-—but no mention of MB. She did provide a logical reason why Assad might use chem weapons, but not strong enough IMO.
I've been listening to reports out of the Middle East. While there is no denying WMDs were used, what's not clear is who used them.
Either one of two things happened.
1). Assad did indeed use them and he needs to be held accountable.
2). The rebels used them and made it look like Assad used them just to pull other nations into the battle. In this case, the rebels need to be held accountable for their actions.
There is no way to determine either conclusion, at this point in time, because the evidence that could point to either one has been destroyed. However, many are asking why Assad would use WMDs if he is winning the war, which by all accounts he is.
This war will end tragically for someone, but I hope our forces are not drawn into what could become a full blown out regional war, especially in the light of Biblical prophesy and what the Bible says will surely happen to anyone who tries to oppress or attack Israel, who we all know will also be drawn into the battle.
Just read on CBS that Obama has ordered a declassified brief to be made to public before any strike.
Meanwhile saw this flashback:
John Kerry calls Asaad his good friend...lol
Here’s a story someone floated earlier. Don’t know what to think of this.
http://web.archive.org/web/20130129213824/http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2270219/U-S-planned-launch-chemical-weapon-attack-Syria-blame-Assad.html
“U.S. ‘backed plan to launch chemical weapon attack on Syria and blame it on Assad’s regime’” From January, 2013.
I don’t like how this portrays the US. Still, the story is out there, probably not accurate.
Oh forget that story, it’s infowars, not saying everything infowars publishes is wrong but usually, I have serious doubts on what they say. Sorry all.
I wonder whether the President misjudged Assad’s willingness to use chemical weapons. Certainly responding so forcefully to the first incursion of US trained troops would have quite a chilling effect on the further deployment of these troops into the area.
That there were civilian casualties in a chemical attack around Damascus would not be surprising given that gas is very hard to deploy accurately. Perhaps I am too cynical, but just because only civilian bodies were ‘found’ doesn’t mean they were the only ones killed. Newspaper accounts said the area was cleaned up before the UN even got to the location.
However, now we stand at the razor’s edge - is the US and NATO going to openly attack Syria, whose military is well armed and disciplined (in contrast to Libya)? Iran has already made known they will come to Syria’s aid if they are attacked.
It’s a sorry mess and BOTH political parties are up to their ears in it. You’re right. It is disgusting.
