Elizabeth Coast will serve two months in jail for committing perjury after lying about a sexual assault from Jonathan Montgomery.
The Commonwealth Attorney wanted Coast to serve four years, the same amount of time Montgomery had served.
Coast cried repeatedly during her sentencing hearing and her lawyer tried to portray her as a naive, then 17-year-old who feared her parents.
Coast says she never thought the lie would hurt Montgomery, and only said it was him because he had moved out of the area.
Coast has to pay $90,000 in restitution to Montgomery. The now 23-year-old will be locked up every weekend for the next seven months. Coast says, I never forgot, I never forgot about Jonathan. It wrecked my life.
I don’t understand how the judge was able to find the defendant guilty using the “beyond a reasonable doubt” standard. The evidence was simply not there.
It leads me to believe the judge is either corrupt or outright incompetent.
It wrecked HER life?
“The Commonwealth Attorney wanted Coast to serve four years, the same amount of time Montgomery had served.”
I have a real problem with that. She should serve MORE than he did. She is guilty. He was completely innocent and didn’t deserve to spend 10 minutes in jail let alone 4 years.
Obviously this crime is unimportant because it's prohibition came directly from the Lord.
Maybe they should punish him for wrecking her life.
The only evidence they have that he didn’t commit this rape is her word.
“Coast says, I never forgot, I never forgot about Jonathan. It wrecked my life.”
Yeah, it’s still all about you, isn’t it? I think your victim’s life has been hit just a bit harder by the wrecking ball than yours has, you witch.
The damage done here is incalculable. Leaving aside the 4 years of prime life this guy lost because of her lies, there is the taint on his name that’s going to follow him. Being accused of a sex crime carries a stigma with it, especially when the alleged crime took place “when she was much younger”. That he is innocent and was exonerated will not necessarily rid him of that stigma. And then there is the possible damage done to future genuine rape victims in the area, whose stories might be taken with a larger amount of skepticism because of this conniving brat’s antics.
She should serve the same time, at least
Personally, I think the appropriate sentence here would involve The Joker and a magic pencil.
I would lean toward corrupt. Look at the judge's prosecution friends and what his political ambitions are. That where the answer lies.
He spent four months in jail —did he get raped?
Getting raped for NOT raping is pretty bad, I’d say.
In fact A LOT of rape claims are false.
Guys slug it out, but when a girl really wants to fight sometimes she gets OTHER people to get at the guy, and in some cases the “other people” are the freaking COPS.
ANY cop knows that 1/2 of all real rapes are never reported and maybe 1/2 of the ones that are never actually happened.
“The only evidence they have that he didnt commit this rape is her word.”
That’s certainly a bassackwards way of looking at it. Her word is all they had when they convicted him. She’s a liar no matter which way you want to go.

It is far too easy to send a man to prison for rape.
That what she look like?
I was gonna suggest she serve four years as his love slave but having to hit that would be cruel and unusual.
He spent 4 YEARS in jail, not four months.
Locked up every weekend for 7 months ???
What about the guy who [as a convicted teen rapist] was prolly forced to drop trou every day [twice on Sundays] for four years?
She shoulda gotten 4 years and forced to serve it in the men’s prison - get the same sumthin’ sumthin’ that he got ...
“I dont understand how the judge was able to find the defendant guilty using the beyond a reasonable doubt standard. The evidence was simply not there.

She plead guilty. Case closed.
No, dude; the other case.
Yes, she is very clearly guilty. I meant her victim, the teen she sent to prison on a false child molestation conviction. The only evidence against him was her testimony that he had molested her several years ago. That was it. There was no other evidence offered beyond that.
That fails the “beyond a reasonable doubt” standard, but the judge convicted the young man regardless, which is not how “the system” is supposed to work.
I gues it wasn’t Rape rape.
Innocent. 4 years of his life LOST.
They’re talking about the guy convicted of “rape” when there was no evidence...they are not talking about the girl being convicted for pleading guilty.
You beat me to it!
Maybe her name should be Elizabeth Coast-to-Coast.
If abortion were outlawed with a rape exemption the number of false rape allegations would skyrocket and countless innocent men would face prison so that selfish women could get out of having a child.
The perjury of false accusation is the very worst. Hillary and Obama should both be imprisoned for blaming the Benghazi attacks on Nakoula Basseley Nakoula.
Did he have to agree to a judge trial with no jury.
she should have to serve his full sentence.
you didn’t get the /sarc here, did ya...
I know people are upset because she is only serving 2 months versus the 4 years he served due to her perjury, but how willing would people be to recant their testimony and get innocent people out of prison if the punishment for doing so was severe? I know, it’s not “fair”.
The evidence they had that he did is what [should have] mattered...
And that was apparently thin as celophane...
I believe so. That is often done because jurors tend to be over-emotional and will often render “guilty” verdicts in the absence of actual evidence. By going before a judge, that problem is supposed to be diminished. Looks like the judge was every bit as faulty as a jury probably would have been.
She had no idea that being convicted of a felony followed by long term imprisonment might affect his life! It just never occurred to her! A person can't know everything!
Coast has to pay $90,000 in restitution to Montgomery.
And the odds of him collecting a cent are... ?
The now 23-year-old will be locked up every weekend for the next seven months.
It was really really hard for her to work this into her busy schedule, but with the judge's help, she did it!
Coast says, I never forgot, I never forgot about Jonathan. It wrecked my life.
"My life." Vanity, thy name is Elizabeth Coast.
Why don't we just make it official that false accusation of rape is no longer a crime in Feminist America?
Sounds like she's been taking lessons from C.A.I.R.: commit the crime, then claim victimhood while shedding alligator tears.
4 years vs 30 weekends is supposed to be justice? Especially so, when one considers that those "weekends" are (in many jurisdictions) "in late; out early", and counted like Biblical regnal year counts: part of a day is counted as a full day. Cumulatively, it adds up to one heck of a lot less than 60 consecutive days in the slammer.
5 or 6 hours Friday evening; full 24 hours Saturday; 8-12 hours Sunday, a total of 40 hours giving 2 (sometimes 3) full days credit. Notice how much of that is sack time. That gives her an automatic 240 hour/10 day reduction of time actually spent in jail, minimum, (more if it's a 3-day credit) before any "good time" is subtracted. What a deal!
And I'll bet the restitution is paid at about the same rate Tawana Brawley is "paying off" her order.
