Republican U.S. Sen. Mark Kirk on Monday sought to move past a controversy that flared over his call for mass arrests of gang members by pushing for new federal gang-apprehension initiatives to assist local law enforcement.

Earlier this year, Kirk had called for arresting 18,000 Gangster Disciples to deal with the city's gang problem. That drew fire from South Side Democratic Rep. Bobby Rush, who labeled it an unrealistic "elitist, white boy" solution to Chicago's gang crime problems. Later, Kirk acknowledged his idea was unworkable and discussed the issue with Rush.

Rush, a state representative, is defending the gangs. It’s just that simple.

Political correctness wins again.

I don’t know if mass arrests of known gang members is a great idea. But, just observing that we’re not even allowed to have that conversation without being attacked as racist and elitist.

The youth gangs are at war with civilized society. They are uncililized savages. But we’re not allowed to say that. Instead we have to talk about making gun laws stricter so that the gangs will allegedly not use guns in their crimes.

Sorry, but he’s absolutely right.

I think a lot of blacks would support him in this - If it weren’t for the likes of Al Sharpton and Obama. Decent black people are scared of these guys.

he’s expecting that governent actually use swat for the very reasons it was sold to the public way back when?!?

i mean those guys could get hurt taking all their armored cars andtanks and going afterthegangs. much safer to go after a solo person for a regularwarrant, shoot his dogs after running after them through the house.

possibly shooting the wrongperson because the address is wrong, or theywent to the wronghouse.

a guy I know has a condo in Chicago for weekends in the city. He said Crains published the data, where he lives the murder rate is 2 per 100,000. But 2 miles south where this article is referring to, the rate is 55 per 100,000. It’s a hollowed-out urban core where anyone who can leave already has, and what’s left is totally unemployed, living on entitlements, run by gangbangers. Boys join the gang by age 8 or they’re killed, or worse.

This is Obama’s hood...

It appears Rush is allowed to characterize Senator Kirk as a “white boy” without consequence since he’s the right color. Got it.

Only in an ill society would the idea of arresting domestic terrorists who kill American citizens be considered a “flap”.

Oh yeah, that’s right, the domestic terrorists in this case are black and Hispanic so we must “tolerate” them, and a white person suggesting otherwise is “racist”.

What a bizarre dystopia we live in with this even more bizarre Orwellian language.

With our luck, this will be a poorly written travesty used to round up Boy Scouts, shooting clubs, Birchers, and members of the Bearded Men’s Marching and Chowder eating society.
Anybody but Bloods, Crips, etc.

Put all 18,000 into Soldier’s Field, with plenty of ammo for their guns. Seal the stadium. Air drop tons of bath salts and crack into the stadium, and let them go at it with each other. Kill any/all of the survivors. Problem solved.

Let’s see. Each of Joe Arpaio’s tent city jails holds about 2,000 prisoners. So just erecting 9 of these facilities, or fewer, larger ones, could hold all 18,000 Gangster Disciples.

By international law, such “military field conditions” are *not* unlawful, or violations of human rights.

Well yeah! That's his base.

The democrats don’t want to get rid of gangs in Chicago. The gangs help the democrats cheat in the elections. They’re part of the machine.

why do we stand for this?....if Kirk referred to the gang problem as a black boy problem, which it is, he would be hounded until resignation and then some...

Any move against gangs/thugs/murderers/illegal invaders, etc., is considered elitist and racist by those who profit from rampant illegal activities and chaos.
