HOUSE GOP LEADER: DEFUNDING OBAMACARE 'NOT REALISTIC'
Breitbart ^ | Aug 24, 2013 | By Mike Flynn

Posted on 08/24/2013 10:04:25 AM PDT by Jim Robinson

Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers, number 4 in House GOP Leadership, said the effort by conservatives to defund ObamaCare is "not realistic." She advocated a piece-meal approach to repeal, delay or defund individual provisions of the sweeping health care overhaul. The debate will likely dominate discussions within the Republican caucus when Congress returns next month.

“To get the entire bill repealed, or defunded, is probably not realistic,” McMorris Rodgers said. “But I do think there are provisions in the law that we can get delayed, or provisions in the law we can get defunded.”

The government's spending authority expires on September 30th. To avoid a government shutdown, Congress must pass a continuing resolution authorizing continued spending. Many conservatives, led by Sens. Mike Lee and Ted Cruz, want Republicans to strip spending for ObamaCare out of this continuing resolution.

Eighty House Republicans sent a letter to House Speaker Boehner on Thursday endorsing this plan. More moderate Republicans, however, are worried that such a move would garner a veto of the continuing resolution from Obama and lead to a government shutdown. Party leaders are concerned that they would be blamed for any shutdown.

GOP Leaders seem to be galvanizing around a plan to delay by a year the implementation of ObamaCare. “The delays the administration has been forced to implement in the healthcare law have given us a golden opportunity to talk about fairness," Boehner said Thursday, according to The Hill. "‘If big business gets relief from the president's healthcare law, families and small businesses should, too.’ This message strikes a chord with Americans. When people hear it, it resonates.”

Blamed for government shutdown? Wait until you’re blamed for destroying the entire nation!!

Better to shutdown the government than shutdown the entire economy.

The only reason it isn’t “realistic” is because of the reality of how bad “leaders” like this are.

ANY Republican who says “Defunding Obamcare isn’t realistic” needs to get primaried right out of office, period.

I’d love to know what’s in those FBI files that’s been accumulating on Republicans since Hillary was co-president.

Fairness. Meh. How about we talk about constitutionality for once?

The September CR should strip funding for Obamacare as Cruz and others advocate.

Of course Obama will hurt people and the military blaming it on the republicans but he will direct funds to Obamacare in defiance of Congress.

The poker play is to call him on it. When the social security checks are late, the military stands down for lack of funds and any number of other hurtful actions designed by Obama to blame the republicans, the response should be that Congress funded all the things he cut or delayed but he chose to direct funds to his pet project of Obamacare which the American people by a large majority do not want.

It’s not realistic to defund ObamaCare because too many House Republicans support it. Fine. Go ahead and fund it, and those GOP members who do so will lose their next primary to a real conservative.

Blamed for government shutdown? Wait until you’re blamed for destroying the entire nation!!

They already HAVE destroyed this nation Jim. We're on a steady decline, set forth on that path in November, 2008 with the election of Barack "Barry Soetoro" Hussein Obama.

We're over 16 Trillion in debt, with no way to pay it off. Our economy is shrinking monthly, fewer and fewer people are in the labor force each month, fewer people are working and paying taxes - carrying the load for the rest.

? This nation is IMO already destroyed. It's on a decline path that NO ONE in the Republican Party seems to want to stop. Marco Rubio? HA!! Ted Cruz? Talks a good game - but what is he doing? Chris Christie has shown himself to be an advocate of the homosexual agenda in NJ. John Boehner is a complete joke and Mitch McConnell? He's only moving center-right out of fear of being primaried out of office.

Throw 'em all out -- every last one. I don't care if there's an R or a D next to their name, they're all crooks out for themselves, screwing you and I in the process.

That's just how I feel about every dirty last one of 'em.

The poker play is to call him on it.

You forget: John Boehner is Speaker of the House. Thus far, he's shown a complete lack of testicular fortitude (balls..) to stop ANYTHING Obama does.

The only way Obama gets stopped is by removing Boehner from the Speakership first. I FULLY ADVOCATE the removal of John Boehner from Speaker. Too bad I don't live in Ohio where I could actually DO something about it.

GOP? Gutless Old Party?

Defund it. All of it. Right Now! And, hit the media outlets to let them know why... It’s Anti-Constitutional.

Pass the CR’s without AHA funding, and name it as unfunded so there can be no mistake.

Hell, take it further and pass a BALANCED BUDGET, without AHA funding, and name it specifically as unfunded to remove all doubt.

The damn pubbies ain’t got the stones for this fight. And, they’ve proven themselves incapable of adhering to principles of conservatism and Constitutional republicanism.

They simply don't want to defund Obamacare; why? because they like being part of the elite caste that is government.

IN THE GRIM DARKNESS OF THE FAR FUTURE THERE IS ONLY GOVERNMENT.

We can hope. But considering all the people here on FR who demand we vote gop no matter what end say them selves that ‘we/they can’t do it’, don’t expect enough of the genpub to primary them.

Until we ‘hold our feet to the fire’ the GOP does what they will with impunity.

Congress and their staff are all exempt from Obamacare. You may have missed that in the news several weeks back after Obama "negotiated" that deal with Congress.

Oh, that's right: THE MEDIA DIDN'T COVER THAT!!
