WEST MELBOURNE -- Investigators say a Brevard County pizza delivery man takes action into his own hands -- shooting and killing a would-be robber.

Investigators said a Domino's employee had just delivered a pizza to one of the rooms at the Days Inn off US-192 near Interstate 95.

Agents said after delivering the pizza just before midnight, the driver went back to his car, sat down and starting counting his money and tip, waiting for his next call for a delivery.

That’s when investigators said a man approached him with a knife, demanding money and threatening to kill him.

“At that point the delivery man, who had a weapon in his vehicle, pulled his firearm, shooting the robber one time and at this point the robber is deceased and we’re continuing our investigation,” said Maj. Tod Goodyear from the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators have not released the names of the would-be robber or pizza delivery driver.

The sheriff's office said no charges are being considered right now.

The hotel's general manager said the company has no comment.

The last one of these incidents I remember from a couple months ago was I believe a Pizza Hut driver. He was taken off deliveries and demoted. As a delivery driver for a local family owned Pizza place I wondered

"What is a demotion from driver?"

Domino's has had a fire the victim policy for years.

It's one of the most dangerous jobs around.

Do a search on "pizza driver shoots" and be amazed (or maybe not) at the volume of articles reporting the drivers saving their lives and then being fired.

Sorry, that’s kind of a worthless gesture where I live. No matter what Starbuck’s believes, the Nazi Gestapo in the People’s Republic of Maryland knows better that my rights as a citizen are just not that important.

Then just give up.

Oh wait, you already did.

Just as with children, you reward them for good behavior.

And punish them for bad behavior.

But you distinguish between the two.

Well that’s another good reason to skip Starbucks...

??? Starbucks not joining the anti-gun, anti-self-defense movement is a good reason to skip Starbucks? Not in my book. And certainly not today.

Perhaps you’re too simple to understand. When you live in a socialist cesspool like Maryland, the concept of open carry is foreign to the subjects. Thus, going into a Starbucks or any other establishment to than them for allowing open carry would be met with blank stares.

It’s not giving up, it’s practicing a reality.

I live in a Red state. Perhaps you are the "simple" one.

Updated story from CF News 13
Investigators say a Brevard County pizza delivery man took action into his own hands -- shooting and killing a would-be robber.

Investigators said Byron Park, a Domino's employee, had just delivered a pizza to one of the rooms at the Days Inn off US-192 near Interstate 95.

Park, 54, went back to his car, sat down and starting counting his money and tip, waiting for his next call for a delivery.

That’s when investigators said 32-year-old Fredrick Kelly Jr. approached him with a knife, demanding money and threatening to kill him.

Park pulled out his firearm and fired once toward Kelly, who was struck and pronounced dead at the scene.

"Preliminary evidence in the case demonstrates that the intended victim of the robbery acted in self-defense while being robbed by a violent criminal who was armed with a knife," said Sheriff Wayne Ivey. "The suspect in this investigation was released from prison in 2009, after serving a reduced sentence for similar violent crimes.”

Investigators said Kelly had a lengthy violent criminal history, which included armed robbery, false imprisonment and aggravated battery.

The hotel's general manager said the company has no comment.

They need to find a picture of Fredrick Kelly Jr. when we was 12 or 13. He doesn’t look cute enough in the mug shot.

It’s always gratifying when one of these animals is simply shot dead rather than wounded and arrested, etc.
The savings to taxpayers is enormous.

Thanks for the update. The mob is already gathering in D.C. to memorialize MLK's famous speech 50 years ago this Wednesday. It's got the makings of a "repeal SYG laws" demonstration instead ...

We now know the victim pizza guy who stood his ground is a former police officer but as yet his race has not been announced AFAIK, so it's a good guess he's not black. Therefore, it's a good idea for us to prepare for renewed and possibly more robust outrage from the local "Holden's People".

I used to live in a somewhat purple state and lost my job. The need to feed my family over-rode political sensibilities. I had to move them cross country and give up some things I really liked, such as my CCW in order to not do some other stupid things, like lose my house to foreclosure etc.

Wanna still talk simple?

It took a while to get the lynch Zimmerman mob assembled. Does the victim have a Jewish sounding surname? Has Jesse, Al, Crump , Governor Scott, Pam Bondi, or Angela Corey been notified yet?

I know the pizza guy and he is white. It is not his first attempted robbery. The area he was at is not a dangerous area normally but it is right off I-95 where any transient can pull off set up shop waiting on a victim. This guy under estimated the power of CCW.

I think I know him too. I am surprised it happened on the front side of the hotel and not the back. I am also surprised it happened while the County Line Saloon had its monthly Mud Bogging event going on next door - perhaps the thief thought it a distraction? Lots of redneck boys and usually a deputy sheriff or two.

Welcome to FR, I hope you stick around.
