Sen. Lee: 'Darned lie' that GOP wants to shut down government over Obamacare

Sen. Mike Lee is rejecting the argument that Republicans intend to shut down the federal government over efforts to defund Obamacare.

The Utah Republican told a town hall meeting on Thursday night that talk of such a shutdown is a “false narrative based on an absolute lie,” Politico reported.

“I need you to help communicate a message, a message to defeat a false narrative based on an absolute lie that has been perpetuated by the political ruling class elite in Washington, D.C., that’s been dutifully reported by an all-too-willing-to-comply media, and that lie that the effort to avoid funding Obamacare is an effort to shut down the government … It’s a darned lie and I reject it,” he said.

Nearly every time the Dems and Obama aren't getting what they want, they accuse the Pubbies of wanting to shut down the government.

Of course, some of the incendiary remarks from a few Republican commentators, some not actually in Congress, don't help. They have been using the ‘shut down’ mantra for years when they don't get what they want.

Bottom line — the Pubbies always come out on the short end because they have not learned an effective was to combat the charge. Thus, to avoid it, they cower and do every thing they can to avoid a government shutdown, including compromises. Of course, for the Pubbies, compromise means the Dems get what they want, and the politicians call that bipartisanship.

Removing funding for nobamacare from the Continuing Resolution has nothing to do with shutting down the government. The pubs need to fight back HARD against those who say they are promoting a shutdown.

The main reason Dems fear a government shutdown: People might realize they don’t need most of the agencies that get shut down.

Essential services continue. The remainder is mostly fluff.

Back in 1993 with Newt vs Clinton I( was hoping and praying the Govt (Feds) would shut down. Clinton was not nearly the socialist that JugEars is but even back then Clinton was trying to make it out to be a gigantic disaster if the Feds shut down for a while.

We CAN help Mike Lee communicate the message by writing a letter to the editor to our hometown newspaper. If we all did that, and asked that readers call their U.S. senators, and House members, I believe we could make a HUGE difference.

We MUST help our CONSERVATIVE politicians counter LMSM.
