FILNER RESIGNS, EXIT DEAL OK'D
San Diego Union Tribune ^ | August 23, 2013 | Craig Gustafson

Posted on 08/23/2013 5:51:58 PM PDT by BAW

Bob Filner announced his resignation Friday as San Diego’s 35th mayor following a tumultuous six weeks in which lurid allegations of repeated sexual misconduct against women crippled his ability to lead and turned him into a subject of national ridicule.

Filner will to step down on Aug. 30 as part of a deal approved Friday afternoon by the City Council on a 7-0 vote in closed session that limits his legal and financial exposure stemming from a sexual harassment lawsuit filed by a former aide.

In a dramatic appearance before the council, Filner was both apologetic yet defiant, lashing out against a "lynch-mob mentality."

"For my part in causing all of this, I offer a deep apology certainly to all the citizens of San Diego," he said after the vote.

He added: "To all the women I offended, I had no intention to be offensive."

But he questioned the claims against him.

"Not one allegation ...has even been independently verified or proven in court," he said. "I have never sexually harassed anyone."

He criticized the "media and their political agents" and said he "played into the hand" of those who wanted a "political coup."

He said he "provided ammunition for that."

a 7-0 vote in closed session that limits his legal and financial exposure

Means the taxpayers are going to be responsible for Mucho Dinero.

As his employer, the city of San Diego is responsible for Filner’s actions while he was/is mayor. So the city will be picking up his legal fees because it is responsible. It has the right to go after him for reimbursement but I doubt that will happen. We’ll see.

The taxpayers became responsible at the very moment he committed his crimes.

There was already a recall effort underway which was all but certain to be successful. City should have just let it play out and leave him for the wolves.

But that is Democrats for you. Personal responsibility just goes against the grain with them. Electing him was the voters' fault. Let them pay.

Ya gotta admit, those dems are devilishly clever. In fact they deserve brownie points for just shear treachery and abyssmal behavior. Taxpayers paying your legal fees. F'ing sweet.

Bob’s rehabilitation starts tomorrow by the Progressives and the MSM. If Slick Willy can be rehabilitated, Touchy Feely Bob can be back in public service very soon. Maybe Slick Willy can use him on the Clinton Global Initiative scam ... he could be the guy up front to “glad handle” the women in the crowds.

The funniest thing about this whole mess was the local San Diego newspaper or TV station that ran an opinion poll trying to determine what percentage of their audience had been inappropriately approached by Bob Filner.

Time for seven more recall petitions to be started. If all of them are eager to protect Filner from the just penalties for his actions, then they can join him on the political sidelines.

To the limited extent that ABCCBSNBSCNN have covered this, they almost never use the word “Democrat” in the story. If he had been a Republican, they would have identified he party affiliation several times in every mention of the story.

I'm sorry, he was NOT employed. He was elected. Somewhere along the line, this distinction has been perverted, where someone who is voted out of office can gain unemployment benefits, vacation, retirement... And at some point, these creatures stopped serving the people. I do not think these two things are unrelated.

Minutes after it was announced he would leave office, Mayor Bob Filner apologized for the upheaval that has gripped San Diego but insisted that his downfall stems from a “lynch mob” mentality.

The “D” after his name allows him to associate with his AfAm consituents and assume their “struggle”.

Only a Dhimmicrat would conflate his perceived “lynching” with his black supports/voters. All the better, my pretty, to play the race card.

Most large cities are their own insurance company. When we did claims or law suits against many cities, it was always the city we were dealing with, not your average insurance company, which MEANS, the local citizens PAY the stinking money to the claimant when they win, not an insurance company.

The “for my part-—” line is the one that cracked me up. Was there a gang involved here? Maybe he should rat out his cohorts? Notice how these slimy demorat bleepholes just can never quite own their actions. Maybe his momma made him wear a dress once so he just loves to play with the girls’ stuff? Wonder if he comes from a long line of “huggers”? As with Clintoon it seems he never made any boyfriends/husbands mad which explains why they both still have faces——not spectacular but they still have them.
