France is seeking a reaction with "force" if a massacre in Syria involving chemical weapons is confirmed, French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius said on Thursday.
"If it is proven, France's position is that there must be a reaction," Fabius told BFM-TV, speaking of a "reaction with force" while judging it "impossible" to send in ground troops.
"There are possibilities for responding," he said without elaborating.
The convulsions, pinpoint pupils and laboured breathing seen in victims of the alleged chemical attack in Syria could be symptoms of nerve gas, experts said Thursday, but only blood and urine samples can provide proof.

France wants to retake Syria again? Interesting.
OK France go to it, you have a military, send in your troops spend your taxpayers money. It’s your turn, go for it!
Tell the Frogs to go right ahead.
If they need any US weapons, we’ll be happy to sell them to ‘em a reasonable cost, otherwise, don’t call us.
France couldn’t do it as there is a huge population of “yutes” within France that would riot. If their army was in Syria who would fight the “yutes” at home?
If the French really believe that they need to become entangled in the Syrian civil war and sacrifice their young people, then that will be the decision of a sovereign, democratically elected government. However it is a good hunch that you will never see a French boot on the ground unless Obama makes a monumental error and commits American troops. If he does end up committing Americans, it will be another solitary executive action because it is highly doubtful that Congress will pass an authorization.
I have a French battle rifle in excellent condition.
Only dropped once.
France could find the tyrant—launch one rocket from a sub with a nuke and blow him and his men to atoms. Cheap and get the job done. (They could test their atomic system too!) Just a small one like the size of Heroshima? No more Damascus—Don’t worry, Obama will rebuild it for them. That or give chemical weapons to the rebels? maybe draft the Muslim youths in France and send them to fight with the Rebels (then forget to bring them home?) Lots of things to do.
France wants to go in and surrender?
French urgency, U.S. caution collide in Mali operation
US sending military cargo planes to help French in Mali offensive
When a western coalition took over Libya they ran out of bombs after a few days and the Euro forces were feckless. The US had to do all the work.
I don’t think France could take on the Syrian army and win.
By all means frogs... leap!
pittiful when france and its leader makes Americas leader look like a punk
WMD? WHAT WMD? It must be killing Obama to know if he sides with the terrorists that justifies Bush’s move into Iraq. And if he shuts up, he is looked at as an irrelevant fool.
If France thinks something should be done, then THEY can do it, NOT US. They have The French Foreign Legion, let them handle it.
I get joy from that scenario!
I know France couldn’t do it, but they sure are happy to call for “someone’ else to do it.
France has the Foreign Legion. They don’t have to send “their” troops.
Question on 2014 who wants to be alive in Israel, that popular TV show:
Q: What did Saddam Hussein, Muammar Khadafy, Hosny Mubarak, and Bashir El-Assad, have in common?
A: Unlike the current government of the Arab Superstate, none of them was ever capable of destroying Israel.
Moral of the story ... as bad as some of these may have been or still are in Syria, worse is quite possible, and not only that, available for service (to Allah).
Dude, I enjoy “cheese eating surrender monkey” jokes as much as the next guy, but, if you look at history, including RECENT history, the Frogs kick ass, esp. the Foreign Legion. No dropped battle rifles there.
Its their political leadership that sucks.
