City Council Speaker Christine Quinn on Tuesday opened the door to providing emergency contraception to city schoolkids as young as 11.
After receiving an endorsement for her mayoral campaign from Planned Parenthood’s New York political wing, Quinn said she’d support distributing the controversial birth control in middle schools if studies showed it would help kids.
“That may become a reality,” Quinn said. “You’d love to be in a place where that wasn’t a reality in middle-school children’s lives, but I think that we’re going to have to look at this, and if the data shows us that that is what would be most helpful, that is what we’ll do.”
