FORT MEADE, Md. — A military judge has sentenced Army Pfc. Bradley Manning to 35 years in prison for giving a trove of military and diplomatic secrets to the website WikiLeaks.
He also gets 4 years time served! So only 31 years now?
1/3 of that for parole? This is F-d Up!

The media outlets are all saying he is eligible for parole after about 10 years.
This was military court, not federal court. Eligible for parole after 1/3 of the sentence, so a little over 10 years, with time served.
0bama will pardon Manning in 3 years. If 0bama appoints himself Dictator for life, Manning is out in 5 years.
He’ll be out in about 11 years. Serve about 1/3 of 35 years less 3+ years credit.
I’m tired of the ‘pansy female judge’ BS. Hasan trial has a USELESS, GUTLESS female judge too. Tired of it. Female military judges SUCK (not literally).

The military doesn’t do time for good behavior. 35 years is 35 years.
I’m guessing that’s his light source.
Things have indeed changed.
“Manning has been in confinement for 1,294 days, including 112 days sentencing credit which he was granted when the judge found that he had been subjected to unlawful pretrial punishment during his nine months of confinement at the brig at Marine Corps Base Quantico. This time will serve as credit and reduce his sentence to just over thirty-one and a half years.
“Manning is unlikely to serve his entire sentence in prison. He will immediately be able to petition for clemency from the court martial Convening Authority Major General Jeffrey Buchanan. A clemency and parole board in the Army can look at his case after a year. After that initial review, he can then ask the board to assess his sentence on a yearly basis for clemency purposes.
“Manning has to serve a third of his sentence before he can be eligible for parole. Appeals application to the Army Criminal Court of Appeals will automatically be entered after the sentence is issued. If Manning or his lawyers do find issues to press, they can take the case to the Court of Appeals of the Armed Forces and then possibly the US Supreme Court.
There is “good behavior” credit, which can be as much as ten days for each month of his confinement.
I was closely involved in the Clyde Conrad spy caper in the 8th Infantry Division in Bad Kreuznach in the 80’s. Clyde and his four junior enlisted accomplices worked for me, I was a part of the investigation to discover who the spy/spies were, and I was the first prosecution witness at his German trial.
Clyde was convicted by a German court and died in prison.
Kelly Warren, a female soldier, was sentenced in Federal Court to 25 years in 1999 and reportedly was released from Federal Prison in 2011. Rod Ramsay, Clyde’s right hand man, was also tried in Federal Court and received a sentence of 36 years. I think that he is still in Federal Prison, but I’m not sure.
Manning will be coming to Leavenworth, probably tonight on an Army aircraft. He will be taken to the new disciplinary barracks on the north end of post and will be inprocessed. He will stay in the DB until his military appeals process is complete. At that time, he will be discharged from the Army and will be transferred to a Federal Prison. Given the history of the Conrad gang, my guess is that he may be released sometime down the road.
Should be facing a firing squad. AND his superiours should be charged also for allowing him access to this trove.
