White House under pressure to pay its interns

... Hundreds of interns have filed lawsuits or raised complaints over working long hours for free. But one group of former interns is sidestepping the courtroom and going straight to the White House to fight for fair compensation.

The Fair Pay Campaign, a grassroots lobby set to launch around Labor Day, is calling on President Obama to pay White House interns in order to set an example for other government agencies and private employers.

If you pay them, they are not really interns. I love how these liberal idiots accept a job under one set of conditions, and then bitch because they cannot live under those conditions.

Obama says that paying them NOTHING is a ‘living wage’ LOL

Amazing that they travel to DC and pay their own expenses THERE just to work for free, I am sure its lots of fun to do that but not everyone is rich like your friends kids are Obama.

This person appears to be under the mistaken impression that it is the intent of "the White House" to operate in good faith.

Another thread on unpaid internships in (leftist) publishing pointed out that by not paying the magazine only got interns from “well placed” families who could afford to live in New York without pay, as opposed to commoners who needed the money. Hiring a Kennedy cousin helped the employer more than hiring someone named Smith.
