New Details Show Broader NSA Surveillance Reach
The Wall Street Journal ^ | August 20, 2013 | SIOBHAN GORMAN and JENNIFER VALENTINO-DEVRIES

WASHINGTON—The National Security Agency—which possesses only limited legal authority to spy on U.S. citizens—has built a surveillance network that covers more Americans' Internet communications than officials have publicly disclosed, current and former officials say.

The system has the capacity to reach roughly 75% of all U.S. Internet traffic in the hunt for foreign intelligence, including a wide array of communications by foreigners and Americans. In some cases, it retains the written content of emails sent between citizens within the U.S. and also filters domestic phone calls made with Internet technology, these people say.

Details of these surveillance programs were gathered from interviews with current and former intelligence and government officials and people from companies that help build or operate the systems, or provide data. Most have direct knowledge of the work.

I could, but I chose to use a static image that doesn’t redirect to another site.

Purely a stylistic choice, and I enjoyed the video, thanks!

This is the most corrupt and lawless Admin in the history of our once great country. And NO ONE will do anything about it!

The term “data collection” at the NSA is used only when...

1. The data undergoes analysis

AND ALSO

2. The data is **NOT** stored

Think that over —how often is data deemed important enough to merit analysis but NOT storage? I’d say damned near NEVER.

So be that definition they can TRUTHFULLY state they are COLLECTING very little data from Americans (while scooping up everything).

**UNDERSTAND THE ENEMY’S LINGO***

This is just current reach. They have capacity right now for 100 years at the current levels of data worldwide.

"The data is **NOT** stored"

Sure it is. It's just a question of for how long. The very act of collecting it implies storage of some duration.

Theirs?

Nope.

Cut the 15 intermediate leaks and let it be known that the NSA is taping all communications and capturing all the content in addition to metadata. When they get caught in this lie they will say that they captured and stored it but didn’t look at it unless authorized. This is from the incompetents that allowed a low level employee to walk out the door with everything. Now consider, David Axexrod, Valerie Jarrett, or any of the other Progressive political pond scum having access to any of this information .... why, you could probably turn John Roberts, Dufus McCain or Nancy Graham.

“This is the most corrupt and lawless Admin in the history of our once great country”

I don’t believe we still have a country, in the classic sense of the word, or won’t for long by any definition.

The reset button will be quite brutal. Most of the files will be lost. My hard drive is backed up in the next life.

Okay, this is your final warning! Either you add me to TNJCTPL or I'll not only report you to the Mods, I swear I'll report you to the Mods again!!

Assuming that I'm not already on the list, of course!

Wait, does this mean... there are TWO LISTS?!? IT'S A CONSPIRACY!!!

Thanks! :)
