Al Jazeera to hit airwaves, but where are the advertisers?
Washington Times ^ | 8/19/13 | Cheryl K. Chumley

Al Jazeera may have a team of 1,000 journalists, a massive budget that expands coverage around the globe and a lofty goal of besting ratings king Fox News — but what it doesn’t have is a solid advertising base.

The New York Postreports that when the network hits the airwaves Tuesday, it will do so with about half the normal cable news channel advertising load. It’ll have about six minutes of commercials per hour, compared to the 12-plus minutes broadcast by rivals Fox, CNN and MSNBC. Of those six minutes of commercials, about half will be in-house.

Al Jazeera says the lack of advertising is a win for watchers, but industry insiders say it is proof positive of the station’s flagging public image.

“I wouldn’t give them a dime, especially since we are in New York,” one advertiser requesting anonymity told the Post. “They’re owned by an Arab country and they ran the [Osama] bin Laden tapes. I just wouldn’t trust them.”

And I can assure you that the sponsors of that Muslim bull-Obama station...along with ANYONE who deals with the sponsors...are officially enemies of me and my associates.

Shove it up your smelly collective Arab Obamaholes, Al-Obamazera.

(Al Jazeera America said that they will give less airtime than other US networks to advertising, typically carrying six minutes of adverts each hour, less than the industry average of 15 minutes.)

I would think that Starbucks, Arby’s and Monsanto might be running commercials for them.
those companies are on the wrong side of what is right.

Al Jazeera doesn’t need advertisers. It has sponsors.

I have been watching Al Jazeera for several years now (it was available over the air) and found it to be far better reporting international news than US networks.

I was gonna add they can run federal government behavior advice/modification ads a few times an hour. Each department could get two or three ads and then some campaign ads from the one and his minions/czars and that should about do it. There won’t be time for regular old fashioned advertising. Eventually just do as Ceaucescu used to do - run speeches of himself from scenic spots - golf courses and vacation spots.

kabar~" I have been watching Al Jazeera for several years now (it was available over the air) and found it to be far better reporting international news than US networks."

Since when have US networks been giving news reports ?
As near as I can tell , it's all PROPAGANDA !
And FOXnews has turned gay .. and I don't mean 'happy' !!

MeganC~:" Al Jazeera doesn’t need advertisers. It has sponsors."

The cable bill that you pay includes Al Jazeera
The cable companies pay the channel to carry them.. Comcast / Time Warner / Brighthouse/ etc., etc..
Individual programs have advertizers .

It may not have an advertising base, but it has a income stream: islamist-supporting countries in the ME, using the West’s oil money to fund it. It will go on a long time, until we cut-off the flow of petro-dollars. And that’s not likely to happen anytime soon.

Al MSNBC. THE FOREIGNER and his REGIME have another ally. After viewing the DOCTORED TAPE they were showing, I say they will fit in very nicely with NBC and the rest of the socialist democratic msm supporters of the frauds on the left.

Al Jazeera is still getting millions in direct subsidies from the government of Qatar. Also known as a ‘sponsorship’.

They don’t need any when they have the US buying all the oil, paying the sheiks who fund terrorism and AJTV. Duh.
