NJ governor signs ban on gay conversion therapy
OneNewsNow.com ^ | 19 Aug 13 | Associated Press

Gov. Chris Christie signed a bill Monday barring licensed therapists from trying to turn gay teenagers straight, making New Jersey the second state to ban so-called conversion therapy, along with California.

The bill passed both houses of the New Jersey Legislature with bipartisan support in June. Assemblyman Tim Eustace, who sponsored the bill and is openly gay, described the therapy as "an insidious form of child abuse."

In a note accompanying the bill, Christie said he believes people are born gay and that homosexuality is not a sin. That view is inconsistent with his Catholic faith, which teaches that homosexual acts are sins. - See more at: http://www.onenewsnow.com/ap/politics/nj-governor-signs-ban-on-gay-conversion-therapy#.UhJxpU7D8eE

No rehab for drug or alcohol addictions, nor should those people be treated in any way that is not completely uplifting. Then there are no real criminals out there, because they can’t help themselves, it is genetics that cause them to commit crimes. We should uplift them instead of punishing, right? CC may have created a very slippery slope with this action.

It is so wonderful we can all look to Obama and Christie and their likes.... politicians... for our moral guidance nowadays. The Bible is so, well, ... old-fashioned. And it is offensive by trying to tell us we should not do certain things we might feel like doing. Its our FEELINGS that count, after all.

(seriously, it is a rare politician that even approaches anything like a paragon of virtue. We’d be better off looking to the state penitentiary for any non-clerical advice on morals or ethics....than relying on our current crop of, mostly, morally and spiritually bankrupt political hacks. )

You can't deprive someone of treatment that wants treatment!

The statute in New Jersey (like the one recently passed in California) doesn't ban all gay conversion therapy; it only bans parents from forcing such therapy on kids under 18. (I still think the laws will be struck down as unconstitutional, BTW.)

So, Christie is a genetics expert now?

ACTUALLY NO. There is no scientific proof, no objective evidence that identifies the much touted homosexual species even exists. There is a reason it was treated as a MENTAL versus physical disorder. There is a reason a don't ask don't tell policy existed.

Like Global warming this is a fabrication advanced by faithful believers. Christie is a leftist and with this he is using GOV to impose the secular moral relative leftist religion of humanism.

Christie was born a prideful slothful glutton.

By his logic, pedophiles are not sinners.

The Catholic Church never said BEING homosexual was a sin. It just said all homesexual ACTS are sinful, both because any sex act outside of marriage is a sin, AND because homosexual acts are particularly unnatural and disordered.

Liposuction Christie knows best.

Wonder if fat boy hangs out in homo bathhouses and bars?

It would be hard to disguise him unless he went as a house.

Christie said he believes people are born gay ...

...but can't explain why the NBA player who recently proclaimed himself to be homosexual has an identical-twin brother who's not homosexual.

Christie said he believes ... that homosexuality is not a sin.

Probably also a "devout" believer in "separation of church and state".

I would love to get into the brains of these politicians and bureaucrats in order to try to understand what makes them think governments have any role in these sorts of things.

If it is genetic why ban it? Would years of failure just kill it off?

Well, Christ was pretty specific about people who, in their hearts lusted after these things being just as guilty as if though they had done it. So, I believe being "homosexual," is invariably going to lead to homosexual sin, either in thought or action and therefore "being homsexual," is sinful as well if it leads to thoise thoughts and desires in a person's heart.

And the only salvation for ANY of that is Jesus Christ and Him crucified and how His atonement can change our hearts and make new creatures of us who are not ruled over by pure lust, passion, and emotion...but give all of that over to the true love of Chirst and His children.
