Amnesty International Slams Snowden-Linked Detention in UK

Amnesty International on Monday described as “unlawful and unwarranted” the detention by British authorities of the significant other of a journalist who worked with Edward Snowden.

“It is utterly improbable that David Michael Miranda, a Brazilian national transiting through London, was detained at random, given the role his husband has played in revealing the truth about the unlawful nature of NSA surveillance,” said Widney Brown, the organization’s senior director of international law and policy.

Miranda was detained while in transit in Heathrow Airport and was held in detention for nearly nine hours under the Terrorism Act 2000, which allows officers to stop, search, question and detain individuals at airports, ports and border areas. Miranda is married to Glenn Greenwald, the Guardian journalist who analyzed and published information on documents leaked by Snowden.

Apparently Russia doesn't exclude gays that don't recruit, proselytize or promote the gay agenda, as it appears Snowden is gay. (Honest, it slipped by me)

The US and stooges, on the other hand, are pressuring "family" members like the old Soviets and Nazis, even though it comes from Shamnesty International.

How the times have changed.

Five will get you ten the US pressured the Brits to do this. Going after family members is so NSA/DHS.

How do you figure Snowden is gay?

Journalists I’ll believe.

Most high tech dudes are very hetero. I worked in the field for over a decade and I’m struggling to think of more than a couple that weren’t straight.

It is highly likely that Snowden and these guys are passing information to terrorists including methods and results. That may not be their intention, but it is the result.

From the first sentence of the second paragraph of the article, and I quote:

“It is utterly improbable that David Michael Miranda, a Brazilian national transiting through London, was detained at random, given the role his husband has played in revealing the truth about the unlawful nature of NSA surveillance,”

He’s not partnered with Snowden.

He’s the partner of Greenwald, the journalist that wrote the articles re: Snowden’s revelations.

Re-read the first line. The guy's husband is a journalist. Not Snowden.

If you’re concerned about information leakage then cancel the H1B program immediately. Every high tech lab I worked in was completely overrun with Chinese and Indian H1B visa holders.

Including at least one National Lab.

I was looking at access and cooperation while trying to do some reading between the lines, so here's my line of thought:

Miranda and Greenwald are partners, I get that, and I reasoned that Snowden knew this and he favored Greenwald for the story. Amnesty International has a large bias in the manner they report Human rights abuses shown by omissions, and they favor gays. Because of this I suspected that Snowden may be gay and in the closet, and that is why I posted honest I really didn't know.

I may be wrong here, but it seemed to fit.

Could get really ugly if Snowden has a dog .... picture NSA goon holding the small furry yapper and threatening to torture the dog unless Snowden turns himself in.

Honestly, the number of journos in that generation that are gay/bi/curious/etc is astounding. It might be more difficult to actually pick a straight one that’s married with a couple little kids...

Ya know, that is a really good point.

I have been looking carefully for and at information gaps in MSM stories and reports because I think there is substantial leftist media bias, and one of the easiest ways to color a report is censorship by omission.

I look for the old school real journalist/reporter 5 W content of Who, What, When, Why, Where and How?

When something is missing now, I notice, and try to figure it out from between the lines.

I find that I see better reports of American stories in the British press and better reports of European stories in the Russian press.

I wish we still had a Fourth Estate.
