Though silent, Israel remains worried by Egypt upheaval

JERUSALEM - Israel has looked on at upheaval in Egypt largely in silence, keen to avoid disrupting strategic security cooperation with a military it sees as critical to curbing attacks by Islamist militants in neighbouring Sinai, officials and analysts said.

In private, one senior Israeli official expressed alarm at U.S. President Barack Obama's condemnation of the bloodshed in Egypt and cancellation of a joint military exercise with Cairo.

"Eyebrows have been raised," the official said.

Israel worries that any sign of wavering U.S. support for Egypt's military may embolden Islamist militants sympathetic with the Muslim Brotherhood, ousted by the Egyptian army after a year in power.

Israel wants to avoid any disruption of its security cooperation with Egypt, which stems from a 1979 peace treaty - the first of only two such accords between Israel and Arab countries.

Military ties with Egypt have helped Israel strategically in a region where it is otherwise largely isolated, as well as rein in weapons smuggling to Palestinian militants in Gaza, which is ruled by Islamist group Hamas.

You know, I’ve been a strong, lifelong supporter of Israel but I’m beginning to wonder if we shouldn’t just let then fend for themselves now.

Each day the threat at their borders grows, on all sides. The U.S. is their only remaining ally.

Obama is the sole cause of the current strife in the Middle East and continues his unrelenting support for radical, violent Islam.

So my rational for letting Israel go to the dogs is:

a) Except for the current President, the majority of the Israeli government and people support Obama.

b) Nearly all American Jews support Obama, and other liberal politicians. They elected him, re-elected him and continue to support his anti-Israeli policies.

c) By allowing themselves to be bullied into bogus peace talks with the Palestinians, the Israelis are helping Obama raise his stature in the world and helping to cover up his disastrous foreign policy performance.

(The last one really pissess me off.)

I don’t come to this lightly, believe me. My heart has been with Israel for my whole life; the chosen people of God. But perhaps this is fate.

Once the radicals are firmly in control of Egypt and Syria the killing will begin.

It won’t be pretty but, so be it.

Israel seems to be full of Socialists.

On the other hand it may be a good excuse to Smite Islam a mighty blow to suppress it for a couple of generations.

Well that means that Israel has Obama pegged.

Obama is not going to give up his support of the Muslim Brotherhood. He may hide it, put it on the back burner so to speak, but it will emerge front and center at some point. We know what side of this conflict he is on.

a) is false. The majority of Israelis do NOT support BHO. Quite the contrary. http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2013/03/16/poll-only-10-of-israelis-view-obama-favorably-and-38-believe-hes-hostile/

b) "nearly all" is false. There are many, many Jewish conservatives. I am waging approximately 30-40%. Quite a few are prominent such as Mark Levin and David Horowitz. I believe the media has purposely skewed the exit polling to make it seem that all Jews support BHO. They do not. But, too many do; that is a fact.

c) is true and a big problem as you correctly state.

The radicals are not in control in Egypt. The military under the new non-radical government are fighting with the radicals.
