Republicans Avoiding August Town Halls
Breitbart's Big Government ^ | August 15, 2013 | Tony Lee

Republican lawmakers are running away from town halls in August.

In a New York Times piece about the frustrations of one citizen activist in Texas, some prominent Republicans who have not held an August town hall are listed. They include: Rep. Rodney Davis (R-IL); Rep. Tim Griffin (R-AK); Rep. John Kline (R-MN); Senate Minority Whip John Cornyn (R-TX); Rep. Pete Sessions (R-TX), the chair of the House Rules Committee; Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC); and House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA), who has "not announced any town halls but did participate in them in 2009."

Why is obvious. your views don’t matter. The thing is that you have to make a conscious choice to accept the reality your eyes and ears are showing you.

Vo one likes admitting to themselves their party left them. But Reagan did it. So can rank and file conservatives. The other option is to continue empowering a GOP that is indistinguishable from the Democrats.

I would have raised some serious sand about the written question requirement. That's a real cop-out.

I should have done exactly that. At this point, I plan to call his office and register a complaint.

I almost entirely agree. The only reason I left my registration (R) is so I can influence the primary process. But, given last year's GOP convention, it is clear the apparatchiks probably have control over who becomes the nominee. I'll decide that come 2016.

Third parties are a waste of time.

The left has fundamentally corrupted the structure of our government to the point that national elections matter less and less with every cycle.

FWIW, I wrote a short vanity on the importance of structure to our republic. http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/3028528/posts

Cowards? I recall reading that they were to be targeted by the leftists.

Four years after the tea party surprised Democrats at town halls that led to the Republican wave of 2010, the political action group formed out of the remains of President Barack Obama’s campaign laid out its plans Monday for Action August, a month of activity meant to break congressional opposition to the White House agenda.

OFA’s preparing a range of under-the-national-radar tactics in conjunction with heading for town halls. Rallies, distribution of fliers and district office demonstrations will be aimed at drawing the same sort of local attention that tea party groups managed four years ago, hoping to spook members of Congress worried about the 2014 midterms.

But with Obama off to a sometimes disappointing and dispiriting start to his second term, the question is one the president himself asked volunteers Monday night: “Are you still fired up?”

The crowd cheered “Yes!” but they’ll need more than that.

They’re not worried about leftist infiltrators-—they’re scared of the TEA party and have been instructed by Boehner to avoid their constituents with amnesty in the works, or else the GOP-E applecart will be up set.

“The only reason I left my registration (R) is so I can influence the primary process.”

In NC unaffiliated voters can vote in either primary.

Personally I’m against open primaries as it allows primaries to be manipulated by the other party. For example in 2014 I expect Lindsay Graham to win the Republican primary against conservative opposition because DNC affiliated groups will organize independents and Democrats to vote for Graham in the Republican primary.

However, as long as NC allows me to vote in either primary, I’ll vote if I believe it will make a difference.

That's a real cop-out.

And of course office staff also cops out....Limited time...Some people not comfortable speaking....blah, blah, blah.

I told her the impression is that Congressman did not WANT to hear the voices of the people. He has another one about 80 miles south of me on Monday. Is anyone nearer than I am to Sevier County?

We need to be aware that FR is being infiltrated by Soros and Rowe useful idiots who are spreading lies, disinformation and chaos.

Wow...you are just now waking up to that fact?

It has been going on for several election cycles now!
