The American Civil Liberties Union, which touts itself as a fierce defender of fair labor standards, is in a contractual dispute with an unforeseen group: its own workers.
Last month, demonstrators from the UAW Local 2110 AFL-CIO, the collective bargaining unit that represents the ACLUs assistant legal staff, administrative assistants, and other support staff, rallied outside the ACLUs national headquarters in New York City, protesting the nonprofits new contract for unionized staff and accusing the organization of violating its own employees rights.
Among the contentious issues in the new contract are smaller wage increases and the demand that workers pay for their own health care benefits. Maida Rosenstein, president of UAW Local 211.

LOL! Hypocrites!
This is what happens when a temporary super-majority passes a 2700 page bill the American people did not want or need without even reading the damned thing. Fluster Cluck.
I’m definitely with the union here. Strike and stay out, union brothers. Make them hurt and hurt badly. We all know the ACLU is a front group for the Communist Party and probably makes money fist over bloody fist so don’t sell short, unionites! Stay out on strike as long as it take to get your “fair share” from your stingy oppressors!
(In an unrelated side note, I’ve seen a union picketing over at Goodwill Industries here in Austin - that’s right, picketing a charity for better wages and benefits.)
leftists are always.. ALWAYS... hypocrites
Why does the ACLU have United Auto Workers union members on their payroll? Since when did they make cars or car parts?
We auto know (pun!)
Ive seen a union picketing over at Goodwill Industries here in Austin...”
I would respond that you’ve got to be kidding, but we are talking about Austin. But I still have to say it - you’ve got to be kidding. That is just so wrong.
We have several charities in our area much like Goodwill. Most of them only have one employee who is the manager. The rest are all volunteers and there never seems to be a shortage of hands to help out.
Isn’t the ACLU paid for by the taxpayers? Certainly, this could not be yet another government funded grooup that wants no prt of obamacare, could it?/s
In my state, union leaders NEVER have the same pension and healthcare as the union members.
It boggles the mind.
Trust me, these guys will get a waiver of some sort, as will all fed and state workers on every level. Heck, I bet even county, city, town and municipality workers get an exemption.
The only people who won’t be getting an exemption is you and I.
I have since changed parties from R to “undecided” because I know what’s coming down the pike. I’ve lived in the Chicago-land area long enough to see the writing on the walls.
You do NOT want to be in the wrong party in the upcoming future. The R’s won’t fight back, and the D’s are hellbent on war in a scorched earth way.
“We will reward our friends and punish our enemies” B. Hussein Obama
Every one of those union folk probably voted for Obama. Obama brought us Obama(doesn’t)Care. Obama(doesn’t)Care has forced the ACLU into this.
Ergo, they voted for what they’re protesting against.
Losers.
