It’s not surprising for New Mexico. It was after all set up as a territory after the Mexican-American War to contain all the Spanish speaking populations outside of California and Texas in the land acquired by the US as a result of the war.
What’s lunacy is that too many whites still act like there is some sort of fairness in all this racial crap. Whites are the fair haired step child and will continue to be so until whites group as a political unit.
