The New York Times takes down the Clinton Foundation. This could be devastating for Bill and Hillary

By Tim Stanley US politics Last updated: August 14th, 2013

Is the New York Times being guest edited by Rush Limbaugh? Today it runs with a fascinating takedown of the Clinton Foundation – that vast vanity project that conservatives are wary of criticising for being seen to attack a body that tries to do good. But the liberal NYT has no such scruples. The killer quote is this:

For all of its successes, the Clinton Foundation had become a sprawling concern, supervised by a rotating board of old Clinton hands, vulnerable to distraction and threatened by conflicts of interest. It ran multimillion-dollar deficits for several years, despite vast amounts of money flowing in.

Over a year ago Bill Clinton met with some aides and lawyers to review the Foundation's progress and concluded that it was a mess. Well, many political start-ups can be, especially when their sole selling point is the big name of their founder (the queues are short at the Dan Quayle Vice Presidential Learning Center). But what complicated this review – what made its findings more politically devastating – is that the Clinton Foundation has become about more than just Bill. Now both daughter Chelsea and wife, and likely presidential candidate, Hillary Clinton have taken on major roles and, in the words of the NYT "efforts to insulate the foundation from potential conflicts have highlighted just how difficult it can be to disentangle the Clintons’ charity work from Mr Clinton’s moneymaking ventures and Mrs Clinton’s political future." Oh, they're entangled alright.

Simple reason for the foundation charade: political donations are not tax deductable....donations to a foundation are.

“Who is behind it. “

This is the key question. Who in the progressive camp benefits from diminishing the Clintons?

Er, Bill, you didn’t renew your subscription. Renew it now or tomorrow’s story will be worse.

Bill KKKlinton has probably made over $100 million dollars by influence peddling since leaving office, either directly into his pocket or to his “foundation”. This doesnt include the 10’s of millions made by giving speeches at hundreds of thousands of dollars a pop. Reagan made 1 book deal after he left office and the media went nuts.

Wrong. The key question is: Why aren’t Bill, Hillary and Chelsea running their foundation in an honest and above-board fashion? The question transcends politics and goes straight to the matter of integrity and character.

I’m wagering there’s dirt under the rugs of that foundations hallway the Clinton’s don’t want aired, and are setting us up for the dissolution of the foundation as a fiscal failure.

Somebody should quickly lift the carpet in the hallway, and document what is found for 2016.

Nice gratuitous shot at Dan Quayle. I’m sure the writer thought he was being very clever.

We are talking about different issues. I’m asking who benefits from releasing the story rather than who benefits from a corrupt foundation.

Bingo!!

Yep- and guess who gets to be on the board - and “earn”
a 6 figure salary?- Chelsea!

I believe she was once asked what the foundation was
doing - the look on horse face was priceless-
(because she is clueless as to her fiduciary
responsibility, and what her job title even was)

integrity and character?

You did read the article right? It’s about the Clintons! They have no idea what those two things are.

Nothing to see here.

This is the new Leftist tactic. Cover all their preferred candidates dirty laundry now, well before anyone is paying attention, so that they can later state that its an old story that they already covered.

Expect a few more of these articles in the near future, followed by a total black out of all bad news concerning Clinton.
