Report: Obama Appointees Using Secret Email Accounts (Barf Alert)
The Hill ^ | June 4, 2013 | Zack Cloeman

Several of President Obama’s political appointees are using secret government email accounts, The Associated Press reported Tuesday.

The administration officials contend the separate addresses used by the former head of the Environmental Protection Agency and other departments are necessary to keep their primary inboxes from overflowing.

But the practice invites concerns that federal agencies are conducting official business through accounts that go undetected in public records requests. It brings worries that government officials are hiding information and decisions.

"What happens when that person doesn't work there anymore? He leaves and someone makes a request (to review emails) in two years," Kel McClanahan, executive director of National Security Counselors, an open government group, told AP. "Who's going to know to search the other accounts? You would hope that agencies doing this would keep a list of aliases in a desk drawer, but you know that isn't happening."

I remember the days when a Yahoo standard Mail account had maximum storage of 4 MB. That was in 1998. So, we're supposed to believe that the storage for the White House e mail accounts are so limited that they need outside accounts to handle the "overflow". That's about the lamest, most incredulous excuse I've ever heard.

The good news is that thanks to the administration's new and improved transparency policy, the secret email "overflow" accounts were made public. < sarc /

The corrupt Congress will want them, too.

Special people need special things.
Freedom from Law.
Freedom from ObamaCARE.
Freedom from Gov’t forced “transparency”.

I have no problem with them having a public email address and a more private one for internal email so the EPA assistant director can mail directly to his boss without it being lost underneath a pile of email from people emailing to complain about the EPA. But it should never be used to hide from FOIC requests or Congressional or criminal subpoenas. And the use of fake names is ridiculous, like EPA administrator Lisa Jackson using the name "Richard Windsor".

Really. What clued these gullible twits in on Obama’s secret government? They must not have heard of Benghazi and our AOL “commander-in-chief”.

We have a Potemkin government. The real machinations of the ruling class happen off the books, in the offices of various foundations, boardrooms of fellow-travelling corporatists and quangos, the salons of Georgetown, all communicated with a wink and a nod or, if written down at all, documented on non-gov’t computers. Once everything’s worked out the stage sets of Constitutional gov’t are manipulated to give the rubes the simulacrum of self-government.

"...we're supposed to believe that the storage for the White House e mail accounts are so limited that they need outside accounts to handle the "overflow"..."

Yeah, especially since O'Bunghole just finished adding a 10,000 sq-ft underground computer mainframe bunker onto the White Hut to be used for his monstrously illegal and massively expanded domestic espionage conspiracy. This tyrant asswipe is so spent, his "Presidential Legacy" will be nothing but lies, excuses, finger-pointing, racial pimping, crimes against America, treasonous duplicity, murder, national shame, and an improbable tale of anti-American deceit and corruption on so grand a scale that it makes Tricky Dick Nixon look like a rosey-cheeked Amish churchboy.

I would never wish for anyone to catch AIDS and die, but couldn't a piano or maybe a safe just fall on his head sort of by accident?

Right! because having multiple email addresses automatically reduces the number of emails you receive, and definitely streamlines the filtering and archiving process. o.0

necessary to keep their primary inboxes from overflowing.

That's why they have staff, to read their constituents' concerns. Or not.
