Ex-gay gospel singer who says God delivered him from being gay was removed from a concert lineup at the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial after a request from Washington's mayor.
The Washington Post reports singer Donnie McClurkin was scheduled to perform at the concert Saturday evening to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington. Several gay rights activities objected to his participation ahead of the event.
Doxie McCoy, a spokeswoman for Mayor Vincent Gray, says the Grammy-winning singer decided not perform because the purpose of the event was to bring people together.

Oh, Vision, it’s just true.
Let’s dare to come back to Jesus as a child. Some of us suffer less, some suffer more. I now know that Satan was on my back from my earliest years... because he knew that God was preparing me to believe like wildfire. He wanted to stop it. He got me twisted in knots. Then God cut, cut, cut patiently over decades... and voila, here I am, still a bit hobbled but nowhere like what I had been and I am on fire!
Here’s something I think about some of the more pathetic sinners we know. These are people with spiritual capacities that Satan has leveraged to tie them up grotesquely. Set those capacities free and you will watch glory like you can scarcely believe.
But we got to dare to love the unlovely to participate in God’s audacious rebuild projects like that. We see huge sin. God sees huge possibilities. Think of how Paul raged against the gospel. Then when set free, Paul “raged” (in love, always!) FOR the gospel!
And to those sinners (really I could go on and on but I try to limit myself to 3 answers or so :-) I say... you’re just saved, now you see a big ole hole in your soul and you can’t seem to muster the strength to defeat a flea... GOOD. GOD FILLS SPIRITUAL HOLES! THERE WILL BE A TREASURE IN THERE SOME DAY, KEEP ON A TRUCKIN’, PRAISE GOD TO THE MAXIMUM AND DON’T LET THAT DEVIL STOP YOU AND YOU WILL WIN, WIN, WIN, WIN!
The man will be comforted by family and friends who will support him. I doubt his inner circle will abandon him.
Oh man, God will comfort him... this business of salvation is really a huge in-your-face to Satan. The worse the sinner the better the saint, in many many cases!
Listening to music all the time is just another distraction. The music business has enough of our money and think of all the things that people could do with their money if they did not spend it on music. Too much of the ecomony goes to the wrong people—music industry, entertainment, gambling, fashion.
Homosexuality is like Islam. Apostasy is a punishable crime. It is not yet a capital offense though...
The way out of the jadedness is to do whatever you do to God’s glory... God isn’t snooty about what He elevates into His glory, He will elevate anything except sin and the devil.
Oh, music can be a wondrous worship. Or it can be a waste of time if there’s really something else God wants you working on. But quite often God extends us a range of choice. Holiness does not turn people into robots, it makes them into sheep of a lovingly fed, lovingly guided flock. But not just any sheep — sheep that have the Lion of Judah’s courage.
This is all about keeping the Democrat Party running like the plantation that it is. ALL must profess ALL of the *truths* of the Democrat religion. It has become a religion.
Since the gays joined the *religion* of the Democrat Party ALL Democrats must follow the gay gospel. They must also follow the feminist/abortion gospel, the open borders gospel as well as all the other gospels that make up todays Democrat Party. There can be no free thought in the Democrat religion.

Exactly, it’s dripping with irony. Surely his orientation, regardless of how it is or used to be, should be celebrated and included right? Otherwise you’d have to be an intolerant bigot right?
Of course, if it’s the other way around (I thought I was straight but hid my true feelings of being gay, then came out) they’d certainly be celebrating it.
I’ll stick to my theory, sexual habits (incl. orientation) can change, they’re more like an addiction (vs. the way somebody is born). Who we are in general can change in a flash, if you really want to. We really don’t understand our own nature very well at all. I’d like to hear from this guy in ten years, especially if he’s heard the outcomes of others from his past. The gay community behaves like a gang and once you’re in you’d better never leave, it’s almost like leaving Islam, you’re the enemy, you can’t be a friend anymore. I find anything that behaves that way to be evil.
Oh, I am glad to hear that you put your saving faith in Jesus, which is what I hope you mean. That you don’t just go to the church for the activities.
Why of course homo activity’s wrong... many other things are also wrong... what I’m encouraging you to do is to notice that the BIGGEST factor here is not the shadow, which is what wrong is. It’s the light that has come to chase out the shadows. I’m saying raise your sights and fill up with that wonderful love in that light. You’ll be able to speak grace to sinners of all kinds, a grace that will elevate them out of sin, in love. God saved you. God says don’t stop there. Keep on truckin’!

I liked their music, but was turned off by their pro-homosexual agenda at the time.
Millions of Americans have been cluelessly supporting this evil transformation of American society by continuing to vote for the Democrats. The Democratic Party became a Satanic party in the 1970s when they put support for abortion on their party platform as well as praising sodomy.
The Democrats have been solidly supported by millions of Americans for 40 years even though they brazenly trumpeted their support of these monstrosities. The Republicans at least supported pro-life and family values for 40 years, some perhaps for hypocritical reasons. Now after 40 years of this values stare down, the Republicans blinked and America is in a free fall.
The people who have blindly supported Ted Kennedy, Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton and other extreme liberals have put their votes behind evil. Because of their stubborn disregard for the truth they have empowered the party that is is open rebellion to God’s laws. They have steadfastly voted for the Dems until they won the showdown with the Republicans. Now America is in the hands of hell itself.
Your metaphor is that the shadow should not be noticed or at least not focused upon. But the Light should be focused upon.
Well, I would point out to you that the Bible says, "Love", and the Bible says, "Love Not". To say otherwise is to be a half-baked cake.
Love not the world, neither the things in the world. If any man love to world the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the love of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the pride of life is not of the Father, but is of the world.
Be not unequally yolked together with unbelievers.
Walk not in the council of the ungodly......
Set Not your affections of earth, but on things above.
Cast Not your pearls before swine.
So there are Bible "NOTS".
Of course, Jesus says love your enemies.
Jesus says, be good to those who despitefully use you.
Matthew 7 tell us to judge wrong-doing, but not hypocritically. But we must judge wrong-doing.
Now, I would be happy to exegete these teachings completely, but it would take all night. I do not see the point of going over these with you. You seem versed on the fundamental, orthodox teachings.
