UNDATED (CNN) - Feel guilty when you leave your dog home alone? Well, now canines nationwide have their own TV channel to keep them company.
After a successful test marketing, "Dog TV" launched this month nationwide.
It's happening through Direct TV and its target demographic is our furry friends.
The creators say they did three years of research on dog behavior, watching video from surveillance cameras set up in 38 apartments to see what dogs do when they're alone and how they react to TV.

Introducing Dog TV: the First Cable Television Network Just for Dogs
You've got a dog ... ping!
Two week free trial on Direct TV. My dog gave it two paws down. Personally, I find it to be an improvement over most of the network news programs ; - )
what channel did they dump to make space for this?
It’s satellite ... where the channels go to infinity ... and beyond.
There are only so many nodes available I think.
It’s the Clinton and Bammie czars broadcasting companies, so most probably they dumped Christian Worldwide TV in favour of this and some acorn and err-america gov-funded additions to be announced later.
I liked it. Having lost our last three Greyhounds to osteosarcoma it was good to watch...
Good grief! The youngest of my 2 dogs—a 3 yr old Hungarian Labradoodle, goes totally bezerk when she sees an animal of any sort on TV.
To get her to quit barking, I have to turn off the tv or take her into another room.
It doesn’t matter what the animal is, anything from a lizard to an elephant, she thinks it’s her duty to scare them away. They don’t even have to make a noise—she just notices them, and away she goes.......
That was my favorite freeper post of the day.
This is "Days Of Our Lives"
I dont know if its possible for dogs to actually sit and watch television. When my two poochies hear a dog bark on TV they run to the window and start barking up a storm. They have no clue where the bark is coming from
I had one dog who kept looking behind the TV and speaker system anytime he heard or saw another dog on TV.
Another jumped away from the TV when a shark swam towards the camera with its mouth open.
(took awhile to find it on a search - and Cinemax is free this weekend too on DirectTV :)
My little Nemo won’t even look at himself in the mirror. I try showing him himself but he won’t look..he just turns his head and gives me licks(Such a good boy) Maxie on the other hand, sometimes he appears to be watching TV when my Mom is watching something but I dont know if he’s actually looking at the TV screen..from what I understand, dogs are color blind, they have no sense of color, so they designed this TV channel so that dogs can actually enjoy it. Might be something to consider if I had Direct TV(Right now we have Time Warner Cable but its too expensive)
Here it is!
We have Dish Network so my dogs will just have to wait.
