Weekly Jobless Claims Edge Up as Labor Market Heals

The number of Americans filing new claims for jobless benefits rose slightly last week but was near its lowest level since before the 2007-09 recession, a hopeful sign for the U.S. economy.

Initial claims for state unemployment benefits rose by 5,000 last week to 333,000, the Labor Department said Thursday.

Economists polled by Reuters had expected first-time applications to rise to 336,000 last week.

Claims were volatile in July due to regular summer auto plant shutdowns which make it hard for the government to adjust the data for seasonal swings.

But that volatility is now past, and a Labor Department analysts said there was nothing unusual in the data and that no state had provided estimates.

It is also claimed by Reuters that the four-week average, which often gives a clearer read of the labor market’s underlying health, fell to its lowest since the recession that started in 2007.

The majority of the new jobs are part time, I believe. Showing the trend to the Obamacare 30 hour work week.

To be fair, it’s plausible that claims *could have* edged up as a result of people that had dropped out of the labor market rejoining it to look for work.

The problem is, it could ALSO be shameless, agenda-driven spin from a BLS that serves its blue-lipped Kenyan monkey master rather than the truth.

And with the nest of vipers that is this administration, you have to go with “shameless spin” as your premise, unless proven otherwise.

If Obama set fire to the White House the media would praise him for his new urban renewal policy.

I agree with that.

I would also make the larger point -- the media publishes "information" and then tells us how we are supposed to interpret that information. "Here is what happened" and then "So, as you can see, Obama is a great president".

The media is nothing but propaganda, and it irks me that anyone ever provides them the fig leaf of being "unbiased".

My local Obama rag headline is:
“Jobless claims fall in month”
Even the Business Section is bent to Praise Obama.
It must be fun to find a context to shoehorn the facts into the Liberal Progressive narrative.

earlier this week, Rush and even the local guy in DC were talking about how we have just grown so cynical of the government that we don’t trust them with anything in regards to the closing of the embassies.
The fact that they go out and tell us that fewer American working and the decreasing personal incomes are a positive, is one of the many reasons we have grown cynical and can’t seen to trust them.

Weekly Jobless Claims Edge Up as Labor Market Heals

Only the perverted, diseased "mind" of the libtard could a sentence like this be created and printed. Liberalism truly is a mental illness, devoid of rationale, logic, commons sense or reality. Parasitic, lying scum that continuously destroy our civilization and society...

To be fair, it’s plausible that claims *could have* edged up as a result of people that had dropped out of the labor market rejoining it to look for work.

These were "new claims for jobless benefits". People who dropped out of the work force that are now looking again do not factor into this number.
