"Bilingual" in a small part of Manchester and Nashua means Spanish and English.

In a small part of each it means English and Portuguese.

In Northern New Hampshire it means Canadian French and English.

Yet in the Littleton Lowes store there are aisle banners in Spanish and English.

This is in one of the closest Lowes to the French Canadian border.

At first I was disgusted by this ignorance by Lowes.

Then I realized this was really a complement to the French Canadians.

I shows that Lowes thinks the French Canadians are smart enough and industrious enough to uses a French - English dictionary.

It also shows Lowes thinks Spanish speakers are just too dumb and lazy to ever figure out any English words.

WalMart is great about hiring the handicapped. There are many in almost every WalMart I’ve ever been in. I give them credit. And you are right about the chairs. Got to be careful or they will run over you.

The PRs in Manchester and Nashua will be happy to hear that.

There are no Lowells or Lawrences or Springfields or “hispanic areas” in NH like there are in Massachusetts. I gave you the racial breakdown of the state. You have no clue what you are talking about.

I lived there. I know what i am talking about.

I never said that there was an entire city of Hispanics. I am saying there are neighborhoods in those towns.

And yes, I know the racial breakdown of the state. When I lived there they actually refused service to a black vet in the American legion hall in Manchester.

And they think the south is full of rednecks.

I left that place and never looked back. The property taxes are horrible and the schools are archaic. And if you get sick, there is one decent hospital in the state.

I am all for gun ownership, but they allowed hunting within sight of my house. A woman was shot two towns over because she was washing her brown deck with a white cloth and some moron thought she was a deer. A deer on the deck of a house.

You can keep NH. The southern half is Massachusetts. The northern half is a dumb west virgina.

You said: “in southrn NH there are many hispanic areas”. Fact is there are not “many hispanic” areas in the state. Some black vet did not get served a drink so NH is a racist state, really ? Like Alabama in the 1950s, lol. Indeed the state has high property taxes. NH has some of the best public schools in the country. NH is in the top 5 on SAT scores every year.

Dartmouth Hitchcock medical center is one of the best hospitals, not only in the states, but in the world. Hunting accident....whatever.

You are entitled to your own opinion, but not your own facts. The state did not fit your needs, fair enough, it’s not perfect, no place is, but the stuff you put out here is for the most part wrong & the other stuff is just personal gripes. What amazing state did you decamp to:)

So I guess it is possible for two people to live in the same place and experience two different worlds.

Those things did happen. I was there. Right in the middle of them.

The schools may get good SATS in some parts of the state, but the entire educational system harkens back to the 50’s.

I said there was one good hospital in the state. My cousin works there. I am well aware that its a good place to go. You are so blinded by your need to argue that you do not even read.

Must be that good NH educashon.

Most of your posts are emotion-based because you have a gripe with the state. I never said those thing that happened to you....did not happen. I’m sure they did. But hunting accidents and racial bias happen in all 50 states to some degree or other. None of what you posted is unique to NH.

NH tops most every list in the nation for health, wealth, safety, schools, low taxes & on & on. Those are facts, not emotion.

There’s more than one good hospital in the whole state. To say otherwise is absurd. Dartmouth Hitchcock is running seveal hospitals now downstate. I was not educated in NH BTW, nor do I live there full-time, yet. I notice you did not mention this new, great state you live in....I know you went to school in the joke that passes for a state called Vermont.

I’m not arguing with you just to argue. I’m sure we have more in common there we have in differences between us. My issue was/is the bad info you are putting out about NH. Most of it is just not factual.

NH is not what it used to be, but neither is anywhere else in the US. Here’s what NH has that most places do not have: no income tax. No sales tax. No capital gains tax. No death tax. Good gun laws. Very low violent crime. Overall tax burden is one of the lowest in the nation.

Show me a better place to go & I’ll look into it:)

Spanish speakers thing we speak quickly as well (it is almost an illusion caused by lack of comprehension); sometimes they (like us) may speak quickly if they don’t want others to understand.
*****************************
Understand! Being a Texan for almost 71 years, I’m told that I speak with a bit of a slow drawl. I also hear others in the same way. .......Drives me crazy to hear some of the blabbering females on cable news speaking with a high, screechy, nasal voice like a 45 rpm record being played on 78 rpm. lol ...I only pick up about every third word they say, because they talk like gattling guns shoot.

Too funny! I look at the differences even on Spanish TV itself; some of the newscasts I can understand a bit, while others are undoubtedly speaking more quickly. The ones that are easier to understand are geared towards Spanish speakers in the US (basically US news in Spanish), while the faster speakers seem to be geared towards Spanish speakers in their own countries (with a bit more fluency).
