Matt Bevin Squeezes Mitch McConnell On Obamacare
TPM ^ | August 6th 2013 | Sahil Kapur

Posted on 08/06/2013 5:58:23 PM PDT by Viennacon

Republican Senate candidate Matt Bevin launched a Facebook petition Tuesday to demand that Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) sign a letter by Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) vowing to block legislation to keep the federal government open unless it defunds the Affordable Care Act, or Obamacare.

“Over the past couple of days, Sen. McConnell has been asked repeatedly whether he will support Sen. Mike Lee’s effort to defund Obamacare before its implementation on October 1st, and each time, Sen. McConnell has refused to answer," Bevin said. "It is truly sad to see the minority leader of the U.S. Senate so afraid to answer a simple question. The people of Kentucky deserve an answer on this critical issue."

Bevin's effort is designed to put McConnell in a predicament between conservatives, who eagerly want to destroy Obamacare by any means, and his responsibilies as a Senate leader to keep government running.

Despite his fierce, ongoing opposition to Obamacare, McConnell has refused to conscript himself into blocking a continuing resolution to fund the government after the Sept. 30 deadline if the Affordable Care Act is not defunded.

Just days ago, Bevin wrote an op-ed demanding McConnell sign the letter, accusing him of "doublespeak" and "having his cake and eating it too."

Despite his fierce, ongoing opposition to Obamacare, McConnell.....

Huh? What a pantload.

Where would anyone get the idea that McConnell has demonstrated any opposition to ObamaCare? They must be living in an alternate universe from mine.

McConnell wants RomneyCARE for everyone,
and does not care about OPEN BORDERS, the IRS atrocity,
or his RINOs helping al Qaeda.

McConnell is as ‘conservative’ as Obama.

At the very least force him to explain why he would vote to fund it but not make all members of Congress be part of it.

The problem remains the Republican primary voters in KY — it’s a closed primary but Independents can vote in it. Primary voters in KY leave a lot to be desired.

Independents may be able to vote, but Mitch really isn’t popular with anyone. He’s the least electable Republican senate incumbent for 2014, losing by 1 point in a poll against a buffoon treasurer.

“...and his responsibilies as a Senate leader to keep government running. “

They left out “minority” leader!

He has no such responsibility!

I love the simple, perfect mantra:

"If you fund it, you own it."

Every conservative candidate in the nation who is fighting a primary battle against a cowardly, go-along Republican needs to slap his opponent across the face with that mantra ten times a day. Every day. And also be sure to add that the fact that congress worked out a secret deal to exempt themselves and their staffs from Mengelecare is the ultimate kick in the stomach for regular taxpayers.

McConnell is already running radio ads attacking Bevin. They are harsh ads and end with the “I’m Mitch McConnell and I approve of this message” line.

A full 9 months before the primary and McConnell is attacking as if he were fighting for his life - because he is.

True, but mitch’s hand chosen bitch and clinton supporter Trey Grayson got thumped by Paul in the republican primary.

I have cast my last vote for mitch regardless. No more liberals whether they have a (D) or an (R) in front of their names, makes not difference to me anymore.
