The world the people behind Mayors Against Illegal Guns inhabit seems to be mighty black and white. With maybe a slight green tinge to the sky. Mark Glaze, executive director of MAIG, believes that someone should only be allowed to use a gun to defend themselves if their attacker also has a one. In his opinion, the lack of a gun indicates that the attacker “just wants to have a fistfight.” Yeah, well, tell that to the two people per day in this country who are beaten to death with their attackers’ bare hands.

I don’t remember where I read it, but I think it was in one of Ayoob’s books where a guy emptied his gun in a big brute who was attacking him.
Every bullet hit a vital area and the attacker died.
But before he died, he beat the fellow who shot him to death.
As I recall, he shot him with a .38.
Three morals to the story.
You can get beat to death with bare hands.
Carry a big caliber, loaded with HP’s.
Try to break the pelvis.
The X-ring or the 9 ring are not the best areas, regardless of what you have been taught.
The bottom of the 7 ring is the best spot.

When I was a range control officer at Ft Leavenworth KS, I met a granny who was so accurate with a .22 she could call the eye in a full size target at 25 yards (yes yards, not feet). Turns out she was an OSS operative during WWII.
Nicest little lady you could meet - DAMN scary accurate. In all my life I only met one person who as as good as she was and he was a Major with Delta.
Rules of a gunfight:
1) gun beats no gun
2) fast beats slow
3) accuracy beats caliber
4) caliber beats velocity
5) Many holes beat one hole
they are freaking idiots and no one should take their advice.
they know nothing about the use of force, and the concept of disparity of force, which legally justifies a person using a gun against lesser armed attackers. baseball’bats, pipes, bras knuckles, a sucker punch, hammer, screwdriver, etc can kill. multiple attackers against one. bigger attacker. younger attacker against’an older person. if you are injured or disabled. if your eyesight sucks/legally’blind. if you are ambushed by one or more attackers who already know what they are trying to do to you.
there are many reasons to use a gun in the above scenarios.
I find it amazing that people think when you are attacked, it should somehow be a “fair fight”

You have to right to use deadly force any time you feel as if death or serious bodily harm is imminent. The thug doesn’t need to have a gun, or even a weapon.
Why use a knife when you can use an entrenching tool?

if there are two attackers, one of them could hold your and the assailant’s coats.
if you see they have a gun, they already are prepared, how do you fire before they do?!?!
it’s not a freaking duel, and somebody ought to call these knobs on it. crooks don’t fight fair yet the victims can’t fight back.
there is no law that requires the crook/attacker has to have a gun for a victim to use a gun. i’d like to see hjim force this on women and unarmed male attackers. they know nothing about disparity of force, and they know nothing about the teuller drill.

I was taught this in the US Army in 1968 when America was a melted pot. Now that it's Balkanized into race and ethnicities, we are told different.
