NEW YORK — New York City bar owners poured bottles of Russian vodka into the streets of Manhattan on Monday in a protest against Russia’s crackdown on the gay community.

Holding up a bottle of the popular Russian brand Stolichnaya, the United Restaurant and Tavern Owners Association President Paul Hurley shook his head and called for a city-wide boycott of Russian spirits and liquor.

The United Restaurant and Tavern Owners Association [...] President Paul Hurley, who urged people to drink American-made alcohol instead, said the boycott was the first step toward pressuring Russia to change its policies toward gay people.

I believe the local street bums were feeling that those bar owners should have been electrocuted for such blasphemy.

If Russia was an Islamic country, however, they’d have no problem.

Didn’t they have to BUY the vodka before they could pour it out? How does that bother the distillers? And aren’t half those brands actually made in Latvia and other countries, not Russia? LOL What can we do to get them to boycott Texas?

Just to be clear: the Russia law prohibits sodomites from corrupting the minds of CHILDREN; the law does NOT break into bedrooms of consenting adults.

These “protestors” are interested in repealing a law that protects little ones from sodomite literature and exposure.

I’ll side with the Russians on this issue.

Moreover, for some people this action would be the best commerical to buy the vodka.

As for the country of origin, some brands are made in the U.S. (Smirnoff).

Pretty sure it’s a federal crime to pour a toxic chemical into the street where it can do damage to the environment....

To protest the green movement, I am buying a Chevy Volt. Then I am going to crush it! That’ll show em.

If anything, it's a "plus" for Russian vodka manufacturers. In spite of all the rampant political correctness, most heterosexuals still think it's an insult to be called gay.

Next time I buy vodka, it will be Russian. (That may be a while, though, since I don't drink.)

I am reminded of the old joke that when an Irishman dies and faces Judgment, he is suspended head down in a barrel containing all the whiskey he ever spilled. If he drowns, he is sent to Hell...

The homosexual lobby insists on the use of the “gay” euphemism.

My guess is there were very few actual bar owners there. Why should the bar owners give a rat’s ass about what they’re doing in Russia? Probably a few out of work actors and actresses making a living tending bar who took some empty Stoli bottles, filled them with water and headed to the protest. Look at the folks in the picture. Kids. And union hacks. Not bar owners.

OR

My uncle Jim O’Kelley worked in a distillery and fell into a vat of whiskey and drowned.
“Didn’t anyone help him out?”.
“Yeah, 3 tried but he did a helluva job fighting them off”.

I am sure Russia is feeling pressure from the loss of 5 bottles, which were already paid for.
