Mary Mary Joins Florida Boycott in Honor of Trayvon Martin

According to Essence magazine, the GRAMMY Award winning gospel dou Mary Mary will Join Stevie Wonder in his Florida concert boycott following the acquittal of former neighborhood watchman George Zimmerman.

"We will stand with Stevie Wonder & boycott Florida until the Stand Your Ground Law is changed," the pair reportedly told their Twitter followers. The pair explained "We love our fans but we MUST do something. We understand that a No from us isn't as big as a 'No' from Stevie Wonder, but if all our voices join together we can REALLY change things."

Before the announcement, Mary Mary singer Tina Campbell attended a April 2012 rally in Los Angeles and sang to Trayvon's family.

A jury of six women acquitted Zimmerman in July of second-degree murder and manslaughter charges related to the late night slaying of African-American teenager Trayvon Martin. Civil rights advocates say Martin, who was wearing a hooded sweatshirt and carried a ice tea and skittles when Zimmerman spotted him, was the victim of racial profiling. Zimmerman's family argues that he defended himself after he and Martin got into a physical fight.

Advocates are now asking the the Department of Justice to take up the case.

Stevie Wonder's boycott reportedly includes recording artists Eddie Levert, Rod Stewart, Madonna, Usher, Pattie Labelle, Kanye West, Trey Songz, Jay Z, Rolling Stones, R. Kelly, Rihanna, Alicia Keys, Joe, Will I AM, Keyshia Cole, Young Jeezy, Erykah Badu, Wale, Frankie Beverly, and Parliament.

the big badboys of hip hop have too much invested in their Miami nightclubs to change their lavish lifestyle for a dead hoodie punk

But surely these “entertainers” will stand with the boycott “in spirit” as they continue to rake in millions exploiting angry nihilistic black culture that kills young men like Trayvon

watch the Miami club scene

the uber rich rap/hip hop exploiters like “jay-Z/beyounce” and moron Kanye West won’t be able to detach themselves from the big money they rake in there...don’t some of them own homes and clubs in FL? Lower taxes than LA

So all of these celebrities, trayvon's supporters and peers are boycotting Florida?

If I had money to invest it would be in tourism in FL.

Mary Mary should just call themselves M2. They’re not going to be any less recognizable.

Also, saw that list of “artists” boycotting Florida. So, the Sunshine State is going to go without rappers and wrinkles on the concert stages, huh? What about us here in Virginia?? What can WE do to get on your boycott list?

Blackcott: Voluntarily abstaining from using, buying, or dealing with a black/negro person, organization, or country as an expression of protest, usually for social or political reasons.

Time has come.... to quit patronizing these racist bigots.
