RNC Says No Debates If NBC and CNN Don’t Pull Clinton Movies

The Republican National Committee has a message for NBC and CNN: If they don’t pull their planned Hillary Clinton miniseries and movie, no RNC partnered 2016 debates for them.

RNC Chairman Reince Priebus wrote a letter to the heads of both networks to “express his deep disappointment” in their decision to either air a miniseries in NBC’s case or a movie in CNN’s, writing that the networks are “promoting former Secretary Hillary Clinton ahead of her likely candidacy for the Democratic nomination for president in 2016.

“As an American company, you have every right to air programming of your choice,” the letter reads. “But as American citizens, certainly you recognize why many are astounded at your actions, which appear to be a major network’s thinly veiled attempt at putting a thumb on the scales of the 2016 presidential election.”

The RNC says that the programs could not only hurt the 2016 Republican contenders but the 2016 Democratic candidates too.

Oh, I’m all for not participating in the sham “Commission on Presidential Debates” but this is what pushed them over the edge?? A couple of Hillary Videos?? It wasn’t Tom Brokaw and Gwen Ifill and Jim Lehrer being chosen time after time?? It wasn’t Candy Crowley clearly schilling for Obama? Like you said it wasn’t George Stephanopolis starting the War on Women crap. Those didn’t bother Reince at all.

But put on a couple of Hillary videos and “oh, that’s the last straw! They’re really gonna hear from me now! I’m not bringing my ball back ever again!!”

Doesn’t this read like “Don’t promote Hillary, or we’ll be forced to not promote ourselves?” And this is a WINNING strategy?

The Republicans shouldn’t have let Romney debate last year. When you see the likes of Candy Crowley, Bob Schieffer as moderators, you have to be idiots to think that the Republican candidate will be treated fairly. In ‘16, they will probably sign up Rachel Maddow, Piers Morgan, and Chris Matthews.

just the latest display of pseudo-heroics intended to impress teh GOP faithful before the GOP “leaders” sit down and shut up and do what they are told.

“Typical of a “principled conservative”. It doesn’t matter what GOP leadership does...it is wrong and stupid.
You, Sir, are putting the “stupid” in the “Stupid Party”!”

Say whatever you want about me. But do you honestly think this tactic is intimidating to anyone in any way?? Do you really think this is taking a hard line??

Yeah that’ll show ‘em. The republicans won’t show up to debates.

Well, they could use an alternative venue for the debates, such as FOX.

And the internet. Don’t forget the internet. Facebook and smart phones are death to truth and common sense.

Oh Wow!

Putting the pressure on!

Why not threaten the truth? If you go forward with these commercials, you will have them treated like donations to the campaign. And you will be fined if they go over the limit.

This is true.

At least the Republicans are doing something.

Maybe this is a stupid move, but it is also at least a move.

They should be taking CBS NBC and other to the Supreme Court on this. It should not be allowed unless we get a Sarah Palin movie in equal time produced by Republicans.

This is not an unreasonable threat from the RNC but I seriously doubt NBC & CNN will cave. The networks are run by liberal True Believers who despise Republicans and are eager to help Hillary Clinton become The First Woman President, following the media-driven two-time election of Barack Obama, The First Black President.

Why does the GOP always agree to having (mostly) hard left moderators at every presidential debate? To persuade the liberal networks to air them? In 2016...seriously? Holding the debates on Fox News - exclusively - with Fox moderators - would upset the Democrats but if the RNC flatly refused to have the GOP presidential candidate appear in a debate on other networks, I suspect the DNC might go along, always assuming that they could spin the debate results and that a Fox moderator - predictably vilified by the MSM beforehand - wouldn't dare to ask Hillary anything but 'softball' questions. It could actually be a real debate - but then, this is the GOP and such hard bargaining is simply not in their DNA.

I agree that it is about time the GOP grow a pair, and I’d fully support such a boycott, but given past history I think this is more of a means to solicit donations to the RNC than an actual threat. Next will come the emails from Reince...but in the end nothing will come of such a threat once the media calls his bluff.

My memory might be shot, but I think that it was the Romney team itself that agreed to Candy Crowley and those other liberal democratic hacks.

The GOP should appoint Newt as their “designated debater”. He’s the only guy they have quick enough on his feet to destroy not only his opponent but the moderator as well.

Maybe the miniseries and movies will be all about Hillary’s many scandals... Vince Foster... Whitewater... Travelgate... Cattle Futuresgate... the Whitehouse silverware... and etc. etc. etc. /sarc

Awesome! Another great opportunity for the Stupid Party to blow hot air, then embarrass itself by backing down, which it will. They WON’T stop the Hillary movies. They WILL show up for the debates to get slapped around by the Candy Crowley of the day.

You are correct. I contacted the RNC, furious about them once again entering into debates moderated by the same liberal gang. I was told it was the nominees decision. I was also told, that the names of moderators submitted were unbelievable, that the ones chosen were conservative by comparison to the other options.

Wow.  So now the RNC is going to punish networks by not allowing them to air debates they didn't want to air.  Nice going RNC. You guys are such sages...
