A driver who witnesses described as "moving purposefully" struck a dozen people on the Venice boardwalk early Saturday evening.
Two of the pedestrians were injured critically, two were categorized as having "serious" injuries and eight others suffered minor injuries, authorities said.
The incident occurred about 6 p.m. at the boardwalk's intersection with Dudley Avenue. "The vehicle appeared to be moving purposefully down the boardwalk according to witnesses," said Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

A University of North Carolina graduate from Iran, accused of running down nine people on campus to avenge the treatment of Muslims, said at a hearing Monday that he was “thankful for the opportunity to spread the will of Allah.”
Mohammed Reza Taheri-azar was accused of driving a sport utility vehicle through The Pit, a popular campus gathering spot, injuring nine people Friday. None of the victims was seriously hurt.
Police Chief Derek Poarch said Taheri-azar told investigators he intentionally hit people to “avenge the deaths of Muslims around the world.”
Great movie. I guess I should read the book because it’s always better than the movie.
This time it was fairly close.
The book had lots more of Arnie’s tormented mental ruminations, his parents’ aggravation and back story on the guy who owned Christine first but even without that, the movie had enough that you got the overall gist.

Me too. I used to hang out along there occasionally on the weekends. It’s right down from Muscle Beach, where the guy sells his crappy artwork and the dude on the rollerblades with the guitar and the amp strapped on his back would ply his trade.
