The Office of Personnel Management, under heavy pressure from Capitol Hill, will issue a ruling that says the government can continue to make a contribution to the health care premiums of members of Congress and their aides, according to several Hill sources.
A White House official confirmed the deal and said the proposed regulations will be issued next week.
Just Wednesday, POLITICO reported that President Barack Obama told Democratic senators that he was personally involved in finding a solution.
The problem was rooted in the original text of the Affordable Care Act. Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) inserted a provision which said members of Congress and their aides must be covered by plans "created" by the law or "offered through an exchange." If payments stopped, lawmakers and aides would have faced thousands of dollars in additional premium payments each year. Under the old system, the government contributed nearly 75 percent of premium payments.
Obama's involvement in solving this impasse was unusual, to say the least. But it came after serious griping from both sides of the aisle about the potential of a "brain drain." The fear, as told by sources in both parties, was that aides would head for more lucrative jobs, spooked by the potential for spiking health premiums.
White House officials acknowledged that a fix was needed. But they knew that once they dealt with it through a regulation, some Republicans would use it against them - even though most of their party was privately obsessing over it.
So members of congress and their staffs will be able to purchase the most expensive policy available on the exchange and you and I will pick up most of the tab.

So I was right all along, the republican party was and is in bed with the democrats on the healthcare bill and have been all along, from jump street as they say. Now it should be obvious as to “why” they are NOT going to defund or repael the HC bill.

Obamacare means incredible power and wealth for the political class. I never doubted that Republicans are all in on this.
Republicans to Democrats regarding Obamacare:
Don’t!!! Stop!!!
Don’t!! Stop!!
Don’t! Stop!
Don’t stop!
Let them eat cake. Pretty sure that is what is said on capital hill.
The time for outright revolution by the taxpayers has arrived.
Corruption and elitism in government has become terminal and cannot be defeated except by a complete replacement.
Special rules for special people.
They’re part of the Amerikan Nomenklatura.
Congressional aides would bolt for jobs elsewhere??
I wouldn’t EVER hire someone who had worked for a politician!!!
Sure, why not, make our healthcare more expensive for less of it and make it more intrusive, AND we'll also finance those that chained us to this f****ing mess!
I am so tired of being treated as a lower class citizen by our government.
They have to pass the bill to see what’s in it - for the peasants...
Fuc* phone calls.
Every single one of them should be receiving a primary opponent, TODAY!!!!
I would do it, but my rep is Hank Johnson(thanks to redistricting) and given my demographic, I doubt they’d even let me in the building.
Just keep mouthing off, peasant. You might get a visit from one of the numerous .gov Brute Squads.
My favorite .gov explanation?

Enough of this crap is right. No exemptions for anyone! They, in theory, work for us and not the other way around. It’s time to force them back into the role of being subservient.
The entire government structure needs to be swept clean and that includes all of both houses and the SC. Fire them all and prohibit any current office holder or appointee from ever holding any office again.
This should be a 1776 moment.
This maybe the biggest mistake of the Obama Kingdom.
Voters on the left and right will oppose this.
Welsome to the oligarchy!
