Lawmakers: "Why hasn’t FBI talked to Benghazi player CNN found?" Jay Carney: "Um…..."

A good question, implicitly posed by the existence of a two-hour interview CNN got with a “person of interest” in the Benghazi attack now explicitly posed by a group of lawmakers on Capitol Hill:

A Republican lawmaker demanded Wednesday to know why investigators have not captured or killed any of the suspects in the attack on the U.S. diplomatic mission in Benghazi, pointing out that CNN was able to find a man who some say was the ringleader in the assault that left the ambassador and three other Americans dead.

Eight GOP lawmakers are asking that new FBI Director James Comey brief Congress within 30 days about the investigation. They say the administration’s inquiry into the September 11, 2011, attacks in Libya has been “simply unacceptable,” according to a draft letter obtained by CNN.

“One of the pertinent questions today is why we have not captured or killed the terrorist who committed these attacks?” Rep. Jason Chaffetz, R-Utah, told reporters. “News out today that CNN was able to go in and talk to one of the suspected terrorists, how come the military hasn’t been able to get after them and capture or kill the people? How come the FBI isn’t doing this and yet CNN is?”

No word on why CNN is sending assets all the way to Libya hot on the trail of a “phony scandal” when even the FBI has decided not to bother interviewing the principals. Some news judgment, guys. Sheesh.

Ed Henry of Fox News picked up the thread at the press briefing today, and was told, well, pretty much the exact same thing President Obama said after the attacks in September of last year:

How is it that someone who’s potentially a lead suspect in this terror attack could sit down with a media organization for a couple of hours and never be contacted by the FBI? How serious is–

CARNEY: Well, I would refer you to the FBI for details of their investigation. I”m not aware of anything beyond what you just said in terms of that report. The President has absolutely instructed his team to do everything they can to bring to justice those who are responsible for the deaths of four Americas, and that has been his priority from Day 1, as he made clear from Day 1. And, he will make that clear repeatedly as he’s updated on this process, but in terms of that specific report, I would refer you to the FBI.

Are you not assured, America? You know who the real culprit is, here? The nation’s most-wanted, most-elusive, dastardly criminal— the guy who keeps the president from being clear. Because I’m sure it will be of great comfort to the families of the fallen that he promises to continue to be clear about his fierce commitment to getting justice for four Americans killed in a “phony scandal” while possible suspects in their deaths sit around enjoying baklava in their balaclavas.

It seems like the barest of bare minimums to have tracked down a few of these people for interviews, just as it seemed like the barest of minimums to have investigated the attack site fewer than two weeks after it happened. Executing actions that reflect one’s words are traditionally a pretty good way of making sure one is clear. In counter-terrorism, I’m sure circumstances sometimes dictate the hot pursuit of justice looks rather cold from the outside, but the behavior of the administration on Benghazi, up to and including calling it “phony,” has suggested that if Republicans, conservatives, and reporters weren’t asking questions, no one would be. As of today, it seems that’s literally the case.

Probably because the FBI has been told to stand down, so the cover-up may continue.

Bingo. The FBI was delayed 3 weeks before going into the site-compromised Benghazi.

Wouldn't surprise me if CNN is doing the interview on behalf of the CIA. 0bama needs to find out whether or not this guy knows about the 'kidnapping of Stevens in exchange for the Blind Sheik to Morsi' plot. If they believe he doesn't, or doesn't say anything about it, then maybe just maybe 0bama might consider reeling him in because of increasing pressure to apprehend the attackers.

The current Administration under the communists BLACK Muslim King Obama and his communists appointments have taken over America. This communists empire is huge and I see nothing taking them down. And the Democratic party is nothing more than the voter arm of his army of corrupt communists. America is finished.

Because there is NO ‘investigation’. No interviews necessary - when ‘cover-up’ is the order of the day.

The current Republican Leadership is made up of Democrats, fake conservatives. Thats our biggest problem right now.

We need to replace Boehner, Canter, and the other losers.

" The President has absolutely instructed his team to do everything they can to bring to justice those who are responsible for the deaths of four Americas, and that has been his priority from Day 1, as he made clear from Day 1."

Guess his "team" is not up to the challenge.

His priority from Day 1 is to foist his gross failure on other people - this time it is his team that is responsible.

As the attack was happening, didn't Obama tell one of his "teams" to take care of situation in Benghazi, leaving them to do what Obama wanted - a stand down and a hands off policy for Obama so he could plead deniability later if anything in Benghazi went south.

Do wish Repubs; would pow/wow so as to 'counter' the lies of the Left. Seems they need help dealing with these 'people' who share such; per their media spin. Have yet to hear 'once'; a great response to Carney 'et al' response that there is 'nooooo evidence' of wrong doing, for whatever is the 'scandal' of the moment; being investigated. Our weak-tongued Repubs need a verbal missile to knock this one off the record.

If even a reference to 'why would there be' given how often these 'guilty' rest on their 5th Amendment of not incriminating themselves. Or how often; the promised records/info. . .never show up for Congressional review. Or the lies; they repeatedly get themselves caught in.

All to say; until these people's feet; are held; absolutely to the fire; this ugly duck will continue to walk, freely; and these people will continue to abuse; and abuse, the truth; our Constitution; and all American citizenry. (Some who care; and those who do not; but may; in time; wish they had.)

Get with it Repubs; this is hardly a 'new' problem. You need 'counter spin'; be ready; sick of seeing a wan smile; or hearing only a 'gulp'; when truth is pushed to the pedal when these Lefties are held up for scrutiny.

Oh; what a great reminder. . .Thanks for that; from Ayn Rand.

A great message ‘flyer’ to keep handy. . .for where reminders are needed. Maybe even fit a bumper sticker. . .

Yes./

You know; it is both amazing and depressing. We know 'they know' their failings here; and it is not a 'new' one; but after all that has passed; they still appear to imagine; that a weak response; is as good; or better; than a strong one. This MO seems to fit with their fear of 'making waves'; making 'nice'; and making up; with the worst of our political enemies. . .and similar MO that carries into debates; counter attacks et al.

Amazingly; it now rings true; that is is our Repubs - supposedly Leadership(!)- who are the new 'castrati' (per Rush parlance).
