OAKLAND — The Oakland City Council has given tentative approval to a ban on hammers and other so-called tools of violence at demonstrations.
The council's vote in favor of the ban early Wednesday came more than two weeks after a waiter was struck in the face with a hammer during a raucous demonstration against the Trayvon Martin trial outcome.

Why don’t they outlaw hitting people with hammers.
or maybe register hammers and require a waiting period to buy one.
Now they are left with only sickles.

They should even ban representations of hammers, especially those red and yellow ones ... ooh, scary. Assault hammers for sure.

Since Pete Seeger has been a communist since the 1940’s, his “If I Had a Hammer” used to be entitled “If I Had a Hammer and Sickle”, but they shortened it because it wouldn’t fit on the record label.
Guess Oakland will also ban the use of “Arm and Hammer” soap (not communist). Will they also ban the name of Armand Hammer, a pro-Soviet businessman, whose father was one of the founders of the Communist Party USA?
Then they will have to ban the words to the song “Love Shack” by the B-52s, which has lines like “Bang, Bang” on the floor, etc.
Oh, you didn’t know that B52s went “bang, bang”? Well ask the tens of thousands of dead North Vietnamese, VC and Pathet Lao reds who found out the hard way. Oh crap, just piss on their graves. They got the message a long time ago.
The way the Oakland City Council votes is proof that too many of them were hit in the head by hammers during their lives.
However, this time, they might have actually got something right. The communists and anarchists love hammers, steel poles, and rocks, anything that they can use to destroy “property”.
It is about time that the few decent police down there start doing some “hammering” of their own. Plenty of leftist heads around to practice on.
