Hagel: Budget cuts could force Navy to sideline 3 aircraft carriers

Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel warned Wednesday that the Pentagon may have to mothball up to three Navy aircraft carriers and order additional sharp reductions in the size of the Army and Marine Corps if Congress doesn't act to avoid massive budget cuts beginning in 2014.

Speaking to Pentagon reporters, and indirectly to Congress, Hagel said that the full result of the sweeping budget cuts over the next 10 years could leave the nation with an ill-prepared, under-equipped military doomed to face more technologically advanced enemies.

In his starkest terms to date, Hagel laid out a worst-case scenario for the U.S. military if the Pentagon is forced to slash more than $50 billion from the 2014 budget and $500 billion over the next 10 years as a result of Congressionally-mandated automatic spending cuts.

Dear Chuck,

Since nobody in this administration has the courage to actually USE our National Defense capability, let’s not worry about how many boats you can float. Ok?

Find some other Federal agency to lament the impacts of Sequestration, will you?!?!

I used to be opposed to this sort of thing until I saw a neophyte named Barack Hussein Obama elected to the formerly high office of President of the United States - twice.

Now, I say let it be.

If foreign countries want to jump in the middle of us while this POTUS is driving the boat, so be it.

Serves us right, serves his agenda.

Another effing politician in a job that is critical to our defense. Congressionally mandated budget cuts? Where is the Senate in there, where’s that two year old brat we call a President in there?

The truth is Hagel, yes ‘Congress’ is the House and Senate, but your mindset is “these f@cking Republicans in the House are making us mothball three aircraft carriers.

NO, you insipid little bastard, they are not. You could go back to Congress for more money, but your two-year old President would have your balls for it because he’d want several trillion dollars for entitlements, and the House would tell him to screw himself.

You got your orders Hagel, be a man, STFU and do your job you whiny ass politician.

Pass a budget first. In that budget we can discuss priorities.

Okay, then tell the Obama's that they have to cut one vacation from their schedule. That ought to solve the problem.

To the motley crew of America's fifth column, Obama, Hagel Soros, the budget deficit is as good an approach to destroying America as is diminishing its armed forced, aircraft carriers. Either way, America gets hurt.

So, it's emphatically disingenuous when Hagel says he wants to reduce the number of aircraft carriers to help reduce the budget. Either way, they win, either way, America is being allowed to bleed to death.

Larry, the fact is we will have future presidents.  The next next one couldn't be worse than this turd, so don't give Hagel grief.  He happens to be right on target here.

We need our fleet of carriers.  Opting to cut three of them is something that we wouldn't be able to undo in the foreseeable future.  Our Navy is already less than half the size it was under Reagan.  Let's not give Obama cover to reduce that to one third or even one quarter.

Sideline three carriers? Don’t kid yourself. Obama would love any excuse to do it.

Damn....I’m really tired of this. You don’t give them what they want and they whine whine whine. They’ll backstab you, listen to all your calls, look at your email, Facebook, Twitter, your bank accounts, your regular mail, and I hear they’ve requested an extra finger slot from your proctologist when he does the ole finger wave.

I’m a mind to just let the whole damned thing burn, burn to the ground, and sit back and watch it on TV with a bowl of popcorn in my lap and a beer in my hand. There’s nothing worth saving up there in DC.

I’m giving Chuck grief because he’s whining and bluffing as a tactic against continued sequester.

I’ve been doing this Defense thing for over 42 years now, and you won’t find a bigger hawk. (got out of basic training 42 years ago this week)

I guess it is OK if they are stuck in port. If we are attacked the aviators could land at NAS stations (I know its redundant) so it would be easier for them. Because Obama is all about making things easier.
