White House doubles down on vow Obama won't agree to more spending cuts

The Obama administration dug in Sunday on its vow to reject proposed spending cuts by congressional Republicans in upcoming budget talks, but declined to say whether the president would veto their proposals or allow a government shutdown.

Treasury Secretary Jack Lew told “Fox News Sunday” that President Obama will neither sign government funding bills that slash domestic spending nor negotiate with Republicans over spending cuts to reduce the federal debt limit.

He also said the president was not going to accept a budget in which domestic spending is further cut to soften the blow to Defense spending.

BINGO: and you said it so much better than I could have. Would just add that the Repubs are totally in on this save a very few. They hold the purse strings and haven’t used that power to defund/withhold $$$,$$$,$$$,$$$,$$$ since our PINO took office. Boehner, Cantor, Ryan are right there leading the way to Hell with Barry laughing all the while.

“What if the government shut down and no one noticed?”

In 1920 nobody would have noticed. But now everything is government funded and manned. Airports, security, roads, countless university programs. People would notice. But, it won’t happen. (It might be good if it did happen, but people would die. Hospitals would indeed stop running. Power would get cut off.) Government has a controlling thumb on practically everything.

What we need is a surgical removal of the cancerous government from the body politic. We can do this without killing the patient (us.) But it would take will power and it would damage (MSM would make certain) whoever does it. There would be riots as they turned off the Obama phones and cancelled the EBT cards.

Food stamps are a hugh waste of taxpayer dollars with the current system. It needs major revision:

- Stamps are only good for food from a grocery store. Not a fast food joint, not a corner convenience store.

- Limit the types of food stamps can be used for. This would be new. Eliminate all junk food.

I’m really tired of folks checking out at the grocery with their EBT card and their basket is piled high with potato chips, every kind of snack cake you can imagine, pretzels, candy. Absolute junk food.

The amount of money the gvt spends on food stamps doesn’t necessarily have to be reduced. But what can be bought with stamps can be changed.

I agree with you. It’s the Republicans in the HOR and US Senate, those pulling the strings at the RNC and even on the Supreme Court that I’m disgusted with. They’ve had it in their power to stop Obama’s agenda. Instead, they take turns screwing us over so none of them can be blamed for everything.

Can someone please explain to me how we can be threatened by our elected government? Why doesn’t someone with enough cojones to standup to the RAT prepuces and say “not only NO, but Hell NO”, Are we as conservatives that spineless that we let some myopic POS tell us that 0bama will veto any GOP backed spending cuts? Someone in the tea party and or conservative movement needs to make a stand against these RAT a$$holes and put them back in their place. If not will the last conservative to leave the USA please turn out the lights.

I agree. Mr. Lew says that under no circumstances can you shut the government down. So he just said what they can’t stand, that they will do anything to avoid shutting down the government.

It is congress’s job to appropriate the money. If they decide they don’t want to do it then it is Obama’s decision to shut the government if the congress won’t pass his spending choices and he refuses to sign that bill.

It takes conviction and you have to not go wobbly but that is the choice for Obama

The media said the republicans would have hell to pay if the sequester went through. It hasn’t happened. But, they still will cave.

"What if the government shut down and no one noticed? I guess we will never find out."

Actually we did find out when the Republicans were blamed back in the Clinton years for shutting down the Fedgov, which was actually Clinton's refusal to sign the appropriations bill. Guess what? Nothing of consequence happened. We all went on with our daily lives and didn't even notice. SHUT IT DOWN AGAIN!

As a friend and I talked earlier, it's time the States just say enough! No one, not even Obama, has the nerve to attack the States if they don't play along, and the States are starting to realize it, especially since the USSC ruling that the Fedgov can no longer with hold money if the States don't play by Fedgov rules. The only thing positive to come out of the Obamacare stupid tax ruling. It was a HUGE States' Rights benefit.

STATES' RIGHTS!
Fight for those Rights as guaranteed in the 9th and 10th Amendments! Contact Your Governors and State Legislatures!

Want a REAL cause to work for rather than some politician who will change course once in DC? Contact your State Governor and Legislature and tell them your tired of Fedgov intrusion. Tell them you want State sovereignty as guaranteed by the US Constitution Amendments.

I sometimes believe I am reading the Marxist Manifesto when reading Obama's henchmen. The man is simply a socialist/communist who is looking to lesson America's position in the World. He grew up with communists, was educated by communists, and now is trying to push communism on our great nation. I couldn't hate this man any more. And yes, I get to say the word "hate". It is a human emotion and in my Republic, you are still free to hate or hold in disdain, as long as you don't act on it. So, FU Sotero.
