It seems that not even Beyonce or new, lower-calorie options can convince Americans to drink more soda.

Coca-Cola Co., PepsiCo Inc. and Dr Pepper Snapple Group Inc. all sold less soda in the second quarter in North America, dashing hopes for the moment that splashy new marketing and different sweetener mixes could get drinkers back.

Coca-Cola Co. said it sold 4 percent less soda in North America, while PepsiCo Inc. simply said its decline for the region was in the "mid-single digits." Dr Pepper sold 3 percent less of the fizzy drinks...

The only carbonated drinks I indulge in these days are ones that are naturally carbonated

I put a ton of ice in each glass I drink to dilute it. ALso take fenugreek before drinking it to deal with the sugar.

Grief for posting that? On FR?

Beer is full of B vitamins and minerals. Think of it as a health elixir. Brew your own and save on beer taxes.

unsweetened? Not for me.

You really can get used to unsweetened tea. I actually prefer it now. It just takes a little time.

When I make a pitcher of unsweetened tea, I'll throw in a bag or two of herbal tea (blueberry, lemon, etc.) along with the regular tea bags. The herbal tea gives the drink a little extra flavor.

Any real conservative will use ‘coke’. The rest of you Yankees can call it what you want though.

The sheeple are starting to associate soda with insulin-resistance syndrome...that Zero logo on the Pepsi products doesn’t help, either...

Seriously though, the first big name soda company that strikes a deal with “Soda Stream” to market their syrup will rule the soda world.

Yep. Wonder which company is holding out? SS or the pop companies?

"a lot of caffeine ?? !!!"

That's also the case for those who drink a lot of iced tea, though.

No corn syrup at our house. Plus both major bottling companies were big supporters of the won. Between those two things we have no reason to buy any of their products.

I drink carbonated beverages, but I purchase the “store brands” unless the name brand is on sale.

Homemade sweet tea is the sweet beverage of choice in my house this year. 14 store-brand tea bags, two cups of sugar, a lemon from the neighbor’s tree, there’s a gallon of sweet tea for about fifty cents.
