Rep. Steve King: Numbers Show More Drug 'Mules' Than Valedictorians
News Max ^ | 7/24/13 | Greg Richter

CNN's Wolf Blitzer pressed him to retract his words, but Rep. Steve King, an Iowa Republican, said he stood by his statement to Newsmax TV that for every valedictorian who came across the border illegally, there are 100 children smuggling drugs.

Rep. King says the obvious, and the usual suspects (such as La Raza's official yapping Chihuahua Ruben Navarette go ballistic. I guess there's no great offense taken than to a truth spoken.

Advocates of the DREAM act and other stealth-amnesty deals like to pull the wool over the people's eyes by presenting exceptional anecdotes (e.g. the rare illegal immigrant who becomes a war hero or a genius physicist), as opposed to the norm, which is more like this:

I’m just happy to see a politician who refuses to be bullied into apologizing or backing down.

No doubt.

And rapists.

Of little girls and old ladies.

But our government intends to entrench itself and destroy our country with them.

And anyone who doesn’t go along is a racist.

God help us.

I’m still trying to figure out what the one on the lower right-hand corner is trying to do? Make imaginary glasses or binoculars with his fingers? Or perhaps it’s just a bad case of arthritis.

Wow, a Republican who doesn’t back down, apologize, and snivel when the Obummer Lap Dog Press demand it.

Kudos, Steve King.

Yes, but what should be sobering is the frenzy of so many in the mass media to suppress anything that looks like a full & open debate on all immigration issues. There is nothing more important than understanding all aspects of the immigration question. This is about any future that we will have. This is not something that can readily be undone, if we make another mistake--and we have been making one after another since the Left took over our Immigration policy in 1965!

Please. It is not about anyone's opinion of any other nation. It is about preserving the Constitutional Republic--the Federal Union of States that came together to effectuate the principles, culture & values vindicated by the Founding Fathers. We are losing it because so many of us are intimidated by bullies who have no argument but to insult those who refuse to go along with their politics of betrayal.

Again, it is about us; not those who would come here.

See Immigration & The American Future.

Hopefully this is a step in stopping the cycle of apology, for speaking the truth.

“For everyone who’s a valedictorian, there’s another 100 out there who weigh 130 pounds — and they’ve got calves the size of cantaloupes because they’re hauling 75 pounds of marijuana across the desert,”

That is ripe for some photo-shop!

Has he provided a link to a study or numbers that show that? I’d love to have the research information for the next argument.

On the other hand, there are not that many valedictorians in the world, so it is an easy thing.

Frankly, I wish King would spend more time pointing that out. IT was probably the point he was trying to make, that the claim that the illegals were “valedictorians” was absurd, given that each high school has one valedictorian, and there are not that many high schools.

SO I’d be surprised if there were more than 10 valedictorians in any year that were illegal immigrants. Which means if there were 1000 children caught smuggling drugs each year, his number would be accurate.

But I’m not sure I believe that 1000 kids are smuggling drugs each year.

Indeed. There's nothing more pitiful about today's political climate when people have to grovel apologetically just for telling the obvious truth.

If there were as many as 10 illegal Valedictorians, we'd be hearing about them non-stop every day from every advocate of amnesty. I think that the best they were able to do is come up with one.

Keep in mind too that border town schools are abysmally bad, with standards as low if not lower than in inner city school - the one kid who learns how to spell his own name is valedictorian by default.

“But I’m not sure I believe that 1000 kids are smuggling drugs each year.”

That’s only 3 a day on the whole southwestern border. It’s very big, very empty, and yes, sometimes you will see them in groups, sweeping north like the Wildebeest on the Serengeti. It’s easily ten times that number, or even a hundred.

There are probably 1000 a year doing it in El Paso alone.

Steve King sure is a stand up guy!

Fantastic speech - Steve King talks about the rule of law, where it came from and how it influenced the founding fathers.

27:29 Minutes

“It Was When Moses Came Down With The Law! GOD’S LAW” Congressman Steve King
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4H_ad5oqAbw

Partial transcript:

25:53 minutes to the end
“No nation should have an open borders policy. No nation should have a blind eye policy to enforcement of the laws.

No nation can remain a great nation if they decide to sacrifice the rule of law on the altar of political expediency. No nation like the United States of America can continue to grow and be a strong nation if we are going to judge people because they disagree with our agenda rather than the content of their statement.

We have to be critical thinkers and we have to be analytical and should understand facts from emotion.

Let’s pull together, let’s understand we do have compassion for every human person deserves dignity. Treat them with warmth - treat them with that love, like American people always have, just like the Korean war veterans did when they gave themselves for a country they never knew and a people they never met.

But we must not sacrifice the rule of law on the altar of political expediency.”
