Chris Christie: Rand Paul ‘dangerous’

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is ripping libertarians — including Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) — for challenging government surveillance programs and failing to understand the dangers of terrorism. “This strain of libertarianism that’s going through parties right now and making big headlines I think is a very dangerous thought,” the New Jersey GOP governor said on Thursday at a Republican governors forum in Aspen, Colo. “You can name any number of people and (Paul is) one of them.”

Christie, a potential 2016 candidate who appeared on the panel with Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, Indiana Gov. Mike Pence and Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, said lawmakers who are questioning government surveillance programs should hear from the families affected by the Sept. 11 attacks.

“These esoteric, intellectual debates — I want them to come to New Jersey and sit across from the widows and the orphans and have that conversation. And they won’t, because that’s a much tougher conversation to have,” Christie said. “The next attack that comes, that kills thousands of Americans as a result, people are going to be looking back on the people having this intellectual debate and wondering whether they put …” Christie said before trailing off. Paul’s office shot back on Friday, saying Christie may need a “new dictionary.”

Rand is targeted because he will not compromise his constitutional stand on every issue for the "progressive abdication" mentality of the RINOs.

Seems no one is willing to accept the corrective pain that it will take to avoid the eventual death of our great county.

Now is not the time to trust any RINO nor is 2016. It might be worth plugging your nose and being near-Libertarian in the short run. It’s catching steam everywhere. Cruz is very near-Libertarian but conservative enough to win freepers but I would caution to avoid those trying to draw lines between Cruz and Rand. At this point the mess needs cleaned up (if that’s possible) and you can’t tell me Rand would not be preferable to any existing police-state defending RINO.

It’s a false dichotomy. There is no reason to believe that more buildings must be blown up to ensure our liberty.
That argument presupposes that there are no alternative solutions to the security question. It also presupposes that monitoring my text messages and phone calls enhances national security in any way. It doesn’t.
I’d be willing to try a different approach: Since the Islamists have openly stated that we are their enemy, and that they want to kill us; let’s take them at their word. Stop the PC nonsense and name our enemy. I’ll wager that if 10% of the money spent on wiretapping Americans unconstitutionally had been spent on actually destroying the ememies ability to attack us, or securing our own borders, we wouldn’t need to have a conversation on liberty vs. security at all.

Christie should be commended for his work in bringing New Jersey back to economic reality. There, let the adulation for Christie as a Conservative spokesman, stop. His comments, here, show not only a total inability to see the full picture, with respect to the objectionable surveillance of American citizens; but his phraseology, in urging a one-sided approach, is unnecessarily harmful to Republican prospects. He could have stated his opinions more respectfully, to say the least.

Anyone who sees the broader picture, will recognize that whatever we do, in this area of concern, involves dangers. We have to carefully evaluate our priorities, and some of us will always insist that no decision must include a surrender of the heritage vindicated by the British surrender at Yorktown, and ratified before the World in the Treaty of Paris (1783).

Again, because I hope that we can work together, we should pay Christie deserved respect for his work on New Jersey finances. At the same time, we should demand respect back for those of us who are unwilling to sacrifice Liberty to a form of Collectivist Utilitarianism.

Terrorists do not attack Americans by choice, they attack internationalist city slicker Democrats, people that hate America. Anything that inspires people come to their senses about living in an insect hive is at least partly good for America.

NJ has a higher population density than India, for real, and we're importing more H1B Indians every day. There are whole cities that resemble India now. This is NJ's solution to funding the retired government worker pensions, half of which now have their checks mailed to Florida.

Many of us were waking up, I didn’t really jump on the Ron Paul thing until the primaries when he was the only one talking sense to me.

Now I am not gloating. Guys with R’s next the their name can be very persuasive and even I voted for Romney. However it’s absolutely clear to me after the Snowden incident that the establishment GOP is not to be trusted. Never again can be be Sean Hannity - Democrats bad, Republicans good, hoo-rah.

Bachmann really helped seal that deal the other night. Nobody is defending her actions.
