Senate bill authorizes sanctions on Russia or any other country offering Snowden asylum

WASHINGTON — U.S. sanctions against any country offering asylum to Edward Snowden advanced in Congress Thursday as the 30-year-old National Security Agency leaker remained in a Moscow airport while Russia weighed a request for him to stay permanently.

The measure introduced by Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., demands the State Department coordinate with lawmakers on setting penalties against nations that seek to help Snowden avoid extradition to the United States, where authorities want him prosecuted for revealing details of the government’s massive surveillance system. The Senate Appropriations Committee approved the proposal unanimously by voice vote as an amendment to next year’s $50.6 billion diplomacy and international aid bill.

“I don’t know if he’s getting a change of clothes. I don’t know if he’s going to stay in Russia forever. I don’t know where he’s going to go,” Graham said. “But I know this: That the right thing to do is to send him back home so he can face charges for the crimes he’s allegedly committed.”

Grahamnesty is more interested in imprisoning an American that alerted us to more government illegal tyranny than an outright actual invasion by illegals who are literally killing this country.

If they cared about our security they would secure our borders and stop importing muslims.

In a comparison between Grahamnesty and Snowden, Grahamnesty comes up very short.

What a embarrassing pair of useful idiots McCain and Graham are. :-(

Bingo!

If Graham and McCain are for it, right thinking Americans should probably oppose it. For sure.

BTW, has Coal Creek been cutting some new channels with all the rain?

Not quite a Bill of Attainder, but that’s certainly their thinking. The Constitution means nothing to these criminals.

I doubt Snowden has any secrets that China and Russia don't already know about. Our defense industries are full of Chinese nationals and most of our computers are Chinese made anyway.

We the people are far more effective at taking care of our own security anyway. I started seeing a crop duster around here a couple of weeks ago when I had never seen one before. I got a look at his numbers and did some digging and found enough satisfy my curiosity. I made a quick phone call and found that they are training local pilots of a stretch of land ending a few hundred yards from me.

Sanctions on Russia?

What? On caviar? On vodka?

Putin will show Graham the same finger he showed Obama regarding Snowden.

Or Russian nesting dolls? We've had a growing trade deficit with Russia since 1993.

Or should we refuse to buy the strategic materials from Russia that we get now? Let's shoot ourselves in the leg! That should show 'em!

Our current administration isn't just against our freedoms. It's operating on dumb. Putin had difficulties with protestors and crazy radical-terrorists. Between the Boston bombers roaming free in spite of Russia's warnings and Putin having to keep Snowden safe, it's looking to the world like Putin is safeguarding freedom and safety against Obama's bullying. So, isn't all of this helping Putin solidify his power?

Like many conservatives, I wish the US could turn out strong and intelligent leaders such as Putin. What would be really fun won't happen, I suppose. That would be for Putin to grant Snowden asylum just as Obama's plane lands for his talks in Russia.

LOL, Putin would give Snowden a place on the banquet table just to tweak Obama’s nose. Obama is the biggest joke going on Russian TV, I saw it while there last year.

Someone has posted a polls a few days ago about what people think about the United States around the world. The most surprising part for me was that unlike in most the European countries the majority of Russians has favorable opinion of United States while some 70% dislikes Obama. It is pretty much opposite comparing with most of the Western Europe . They loves Obama and hates US there.

If Republicans like Graham cared about our security, they would fight against the 4th Amendment being abused by the federal government, instead of enabling them.

Yep. There is a Vietnam war era training strip near the radio towers on top of Little Brushy mountain.

“The way they are going after Snowden , you would think he shot Trayvon martin.”

Or that he knows the exact way that Obama rigged the 2012 election. Our government is in freak out mode. Forcing down the Bolivian presidential plane tells you they want to shut Snowden up BAD. He has more to release.
