San Antonio pastors oppose city’s proposed anti-discrimination law

The momentum is growing to protect gays, lesbians, transgendered and veterans in the city’s anti-discrimination laws. But some local pastors say those changes may end up violating the rights of the religious.

“A religious view: either you have one or you don’t, it is still a religious view. And if I don’t attain to their view, then I’m out of the picture completely. It’s a stifling of free speech,” said Pastor Steve Branson of Village Parkway Baptist Church.

Ever have a Paula Deen moment -- make an off-color joke or hold a religious belief? Branson says keep it to yourself if you’re involved with San Antonio city government. Proposed changes to the anti-discrimination ordinance could get you fired.

“If you voice any opinion, no matter how many years back it’s been, it can be used against you. City employees are going to be greatly affected by this,” Branson continued.

Once again the mental midgets and political pygmy’s of the SA City council show there ability to get nothing of any significance accomplished that doesn’t infringe on rights or cost money that shouldn’t be spent.

They focus on this crap, pasties in strip joints, crappy light rail trolleys downtown and banning smoking in bars while the roads are no better than Turd World donkey paths.

I simply cannot understand nor comprehend all of this outpouring of love for Homosexual perverts.

We live in a sick world today and the sickness is spreading.

Coming to the point where you cannot say anything that could possibly be construed as negative to a “certain special minority group”. How ridiculous is that?

So if this law passed, and I say I don’t like someone that turns out is a flaming poop pushing faggot, but I don’t specify why they can turn on me and say “he doesn’t like me because I’m gay”. Not because they are incompetent, or emotional, or unfit for the work, but because they are “gay”. I’ll lose my job, they will continue to work. Ridiculous.

How have we let this happen?

My guess is that they are being used as a special protected class to lead people down the path to censorship and the removl of first amendment protections. Plus that and the fact that turning more people into homos will lead to a reduced world population or at least thats how the theory goes.

I was at a Walmart the other day and a guy with a very metrosexual hairstyle, huge bongo earrings (you know the ones that stretch out your earlobes and leave a huge hole in the middle), a nose ring and tattoos (and a lisp too I might add) checked us out. I remember when he wouldnt have been able to find a job looking like that. In fact it sort of icked me out that he touched our groceries. I’m glad Obummer hasnt developed a Demolition Man style mind reading machine or I would have received several infractions.

Mayor Castro’s mother has always been a flaming Communist. (His brother is the Leftist Congressman from San Antonio who is the darling of D.C.)

These preachers better stop turning the other cheek and organize their flocks into some really tough boycotts of any business or organization that backs this obvious infringement of freedom of religion. You snooze, you lose.

Violent and brutal oppression of Christianity in the United States is only a matter of time.

Agreed. And we just stand here letting it happen.

How do you fight it? Talking does no good.

I would have gone to a different register and then later done the survey online with my complaint about the cashier.

We've completely lost sight of the purpose of the First Amendment -- you are supposed to be able to stand up and voice opposition to the things which you don't like in society.

Shouting "Fire!" in a crowded theater? Fine. Restrict such speech. I understand the need.
Saying, "Faggots are ruining society"? Why the heck can't I say that?

How do you fight it? You fight it with the methods Republicrats are loathe to take. You take them out. It is the only sure fire method, but too many are cowards, quislings, and lazy. They don’t care unless its on an internet message board. As long as they have their gangsta thug worshiping pro sports on television, or their I’m a whore and sleep with my friends husband soap operas, they are fine and could care less that the country is in the toilet.

We stopped at a mid-level chain restaurant the other day and as we were seated our waiter showed up looking like that, we immediately left and I told the manager why as we did.

S. A., Austin, Dallas, Ft Worth, Houston, El Paso are all liberal havens. No surprise to me.

Wrong. You lost the argument right there in your example.

There is NO, I repeat, NONE, reason to restrict Free speech. There are no conditionals associated with ANY of our Rights.

Anyone MAY shout ‘FIRE!’ in a crowded theater. And, as long as there is a fire, nothing will/should ever happen legally to the voice of warning. If NOT, then they are prosecuted for the mayhem/riot that might ensue. THAT is what has been perverted....not the CONSEQUENCES of ones actions, but the WORDS.

But I refuse to concede ANY restriction, when none is even allowed.

I was ... I was totally off base with my "shout Fire in a crowded theater" reference. I have no idea where I came up with such a lame little statement. Thanks for politely calling me on the carpet for my stupidity. I hope no one else ever says something so wrong. But if they do, I hope you're there to catch them and correct them.

We’ve all done it...more than once I’ll sheepishly admit.

I was more hoping to point out how far we’ve come when defining the debate or defending the Constitution (boy, do I love the egg it on in the Drug threads).

It’s bad enough the lie about ‘separation of Church and State’ has permeated the minds of so many (Goebbels would be proud)...

That’s why we wouldn’t live in Houston when my wife’s company moved there. My wife drives 55mi each way to her job, but loves living outside the crime and lib madness that is Houston.
