Breaking: Holder Tries to Re-grab Texas, Announces Nationwide Attack on Election Integrity

Breaking: Holder Tries to Re-grab Texas, Announces Nationwide Attack on Election Integrity

J. Christian Adams

Two important developments this morning. First: Attorney General Eric Holder will announce that the Justice Department will initiate broad nationwide attacks on election integrity measures like Voter ID using the remaining portions of the Voting Rights Act. Last month, the Supreme Court struck down the 1965 triggers that forced 15 states to submit election law changes to Washington D.C. for federal approval.

Second: despite the Supreme Court’s ruling, the Justice Department announced it will try to recapture Texas under Section 5 of the Voting Rights Act by showing the state continues to act with a racially discriminatory intent when passing voting laws.

Some of Holder’s reaction is because dozens of highly paid federal employees are now idled. James Buchanan won the Nobel Prize in Economics by explaining Holder’s actions as Public Choice Theory — bureaucrats announce policies to help bureaucrats, even if disguised as an act inspired by a public purpose.

For the last few weeks, Voting Section employees have taken extended coffee breaks, and even more extended lunches. But there was hope — outgoing Assistant Attorney General Tom Perez referred to the state of Louisiana as the “full employment for Voting Section lawyers state.”

That means Governor Bobby Jindal can expect more targeting by the DOJ Voting Section.

But this announcement is all about the midterm elections. Obama wants the House back, and the Justice Department is again being turned into a political weapon using the cloak of Civil Rights. This has become the new civil rights model. Because Democratic interests are so perfectly aligned with the civil rights establishment — in no small measure because of extreme block voting by American blacks — the DOJ is now an arm of the DNC.

Will states have the competence and ability to withstand Holder’s attack? There are ways. Whether they will use them remains to be seen.

The kenyan has thrown down the gauntlet again with this and the phony scandals comment. It is quite revealing. Team Kenya never, ever stop fighting.

Too bad the beltway GOP leadership is in the tanning booth and with the exception of amnesty can’t be bothered to fight. Lots of fight in them for pushing amnesty but not much else.

Holder said he is asking a federal judge to require Texas to submit all voting law changes to the Justice Department for approval for a ten-year period because of its history of discrimination.

Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott will rip Eric the ho a new one over this.

The resulting unintended consequence will put Greg Abbott into the governor's chair in Texas.

They must really feel threatened by Texas.

We hear it said how Sarah Palin lives rent-free in the heads of Obama and his top goons.

I think something just like that spooks them with Rick Perry and Texas.

First principles and those who defend them and fight for them drive the likes of Holder and Obama out of their Marx/Alinsky-loving minds.

Simply sever the ID requirement from Federal Election voting.

No ID, no State ballot. Let anyone vote on the Federal ballot. This implies changing the state rules and ^not^ having an integrated ballot. (States are free to make their own voting rules specific to their State). In the near term, you will have to establish separate queues for voting but within one 4 year cycle, you will see folks understand. The responsible voters will be responsible.

This would also show federal vote fraud efforts.

See 16....This has been going on for decades...The corrupt government wanted socialism and total control...Leaving it's borders wide open for millions of the uneducated ignorant who'd support it, was a means to an end. These people see government as a sugar daddy...

It's too late to change things by traditional means...

Way back in 94, when they burned CA prop 187 ballots after they won, and declared their free election illegal, it should have been the big red flag for the entire country. The results of that government control and intrusion can now be seen coast to coast.

Holder seems to be pushing for a secession attempt or, more likely deflecting attention from all the other troubles enveloping the Marxist Obama administration.

That cannot be said loud enough or too many times. Spot on.

Where was Eric Holder while the IRS was engaged in shutting down the Tea Party leading up to the 2012 election? How many votes did THAT suppress?

Fast & Furious, Perjury in Congress, Spying on Fox News..

How many chances does the black man get before he's held accountable?

He won the prize in 1986. Holder took office in 2009. Important news post, but sloppy writing.

Are you saying Buchanan's theory only applied on the day he wrote it?

Those chances used up! WE (and that includes our officials) are just to scared of being labeled as "racists" to HOLD them accountable!

Obama is definitely moving into the same league as Stalin and Hitler.

In style more Castro & Hitler than Stalin--although all three clearly identified with manipulating the massed mob.

But Obama has employed a great deal out of what one might call "Hitler's Play Book":

See Leftwing Chickens Coming Home.

That said, Stalin, it should be noted, bears part of the responsibility for so many naive academics buying the idiotic idea that Hitler was somehow on the "Right," which is demonstrably false. This illusion enables Obama's behavior to go unrecognized by many who would otherwise be alarmed.
