Weakened arsenal: More than 50 original mayors have quit Bloomberg's anti-gun group

Mayor Bloomberg’s anti-gun club suddenly isn’t such a hot ticket.

His gun-control group Mayors Against Illegal Guns has lost more than 50 of its original mayoral members in the last few months, as disenchanted mayors quit the coalition or leave office.

Bloomberg, who pumped millions of dollars of his personal fortune into the group to make it one of the loudest voices in the gun-control debate, now is struggling to replace ex-members.

“The original focus, I thought, was going to be . . . on better enforcement of our existing laws, and if anything, we have talked about not getting involved with things like banning assault weapons and banning magazine clips,” former member Rockford (Ill.) Mayor Lawrence Morrissey told BuzzFeed, which first reported the dwindling membership...

Be a whole lot easier if the lying and deceiving regarding guns in general would stop or people would stop listening to what someone else is saying and do their own investigation into not being a part of the low information crowd.

Especially when they’re elected officials. The same bunch who pass bills which they don’t find it necessary to read first.

Weakened arsenal: More than 50 original mayors have quit Bloomberg's anti-gun group,

From the article:

City Hall disputed claims that it is losing members.

“We now have more than 1,000 mayors in the coalition nationwide, compared to 650 last year,” said Bloomberg spokesman John McCarthy.

Mark Glaze, the director of Mayors Against Illegal Guns, said the turnover of mayors causes fluctuations in membership.

“Mayors come and go,” he said. “We lose them on occasion, but it’s going upward.”

So, which one is it?

They’re losing one from my hometown who lost a primary challenge from another Republican. What kind of republican in central PA would join bloomie’s club?

Texas Ping!

Here is the current list of Mayors in Texas who are supporters of Bloomberg’s gun grab:

http://www.mayorsagainstillegalguns.org/html/members/members.shtml#TX

Texas:

Mayor Lee Leffingwell
Austin, TX

Mayor Tony Martinez
Brownsville, TX

Mayor Bruce Smiley-Kaliff
Castle Hills, TX

Mayor Carl Sherman
DeSoto, TX

Mayor Annise D. Parker
Houston, TX

Mayor Richard Ward
Hurst, TX

Mayor Dave Claunch
West Lake Hills, TX

Let’s put pressure on them to reduce the list further. They DO NOT Represent Texans.

So, which one is it?

It's probably a combination of the two.

Don't trust headline editors, especially in tabloids like the NY Post!

It probably depends on the literacy rate of the locals.

Credibility of Bloomberg and Mayors Against Illegal Guns suffers enormous blow

I wonder how many quit in protest over all of Bloomberg’s hired guns who surround him 24/7.

“We now have more than 1,000 mayors in the coalition nationwide, compared to 650 last year,”

There are the big round numbers again. Big round numbers are always the statistics of the propagandist.

We got rid of our mayor a few years back for joining this group. Have to go check out the list to see who we need to primary out locally.

Mayor Annise D. Porker - Houston, TX

You are not going to get this great gross 400 pound lesbian to change her allegiances.

When it comes to being a liberal she waddles the walk and oinks the talk.

Thanks for the details. I knew nothing about her when I posted the list of Texas Mayors supporting Bloomie.

The Austin mayor did not surprise me, nor did Houston. Just knowing the voting record of those cities made it unnecessary for me to know the office holder.
