President Obama spent part of his surprise appearance at last Friday’s White House press briefing urging that the Stand Your Ground laws that exist in 31 states be reexamined. But only nine years ago, in the Illinois state senate, he co-sponsored a bill that strengthened his state’s 1961 Stand Your Ground law.

A rarity for Obama, who, instead of merely voting “present,” voted “present arms.”

Wow, he didn’t vote “present” on this issue when he was an Illinois State Senator? His record from that time shows a distinct lack of votes either for or against many issues.

Well, here is a smoking gun. Obama himself was in favor of stand your ground laws. What will happen now to the liberal narrative on this issue?

I think that this whole media and liberal hype about stand your ground shows a clear manipulation and bias. The stand your ground law was NOT used in Zimmerman’s defense. This subject was not mentioned at all in the court case. Yet the media and liberal talking heads are all over stand your ground laws as a result of this case. This is such *&*^*^, yet the media dutifully keeps reporting, Pravda style, that this case brings up the issue of stand your ground laws. Does anyone else see this happening too in the media coverage of the case?

It would have been tough for Zero to have voted present since he co-sponsored the bill!

Of course, it has been noted on those rare occasions when Zero was added to bills as a co-sponsor, his legislative handlers did the detail work, and the state senator was sometimes uninformed as to the specifics... kinda like his entire presidency.

Ok, I took his “advice” - one of the few times I ever will.

I re-examined Pennsylvania’s Stand Your Ground (Castle Doctrine) law.

Yup - just as I thought; It’s fine the way it is.

Next. Moving on.

Obama actually cast a vote in the State Senate?

Obama was co-sponsor of an Illinois bill which, if it existed in Florida, would shield Zimmerman from civil lawsuits.

It may have been the only thing Obama actually ever accomplished in the Illinois Senate. Or either Senate.
