I agree. If I had sounded as if I lamented that fact, that was not my intention. People should not be able to kill simply because they want to avenge a crime committed against them. In the instance I cited of the victim being charged with murder, I guess I would only add that there possibility existed that the robber, now unarmed, would and could want to get the gun back... and then what? Just a thought. Thanks for your feedback.

We’re left only with speculation without the details of how the incident played out. If the now-disarmed attacker tried to get the gun back, that could easily be considered a new threat that would justify a self-defense shooting. Lacking a threat, the shooting is revenge for the original attack. Sorry if I wasn’t clear in my post.
