I’ve been saying this for years. Every time I’m in a grocery checkout line and see someone ahead of me who is well-dressed, buying prime cuts of meat, soda, junk food, expensive weird fruits that no one who has to actually pay for them buys, etc. whip out their EBT card, I just boil inside. Why the heck should I work hard so that these people can lounge around? Why should I subsidize them eating better than I do (not that I want soda or junk food)?

I don’t buy junk food. I grocery shop carefully, price wise. I buy non branded cereals, bran flakes, etc. We cook almost every meal we eat. Of course we pay for every piece of food that enters our mouths.
No less should be required of people on food stamps.

“Why?”

Answer: so junk food companies will make big donations to your politicians, and so media will get lots of advertising money to say nice things about those politicians!

Isn’t it a wonderul system? After all, all you have to do is pay!

The one that bites on me after said well dressed scammer sorts thru his cart to find the EBT card eligible stuff then pulls out a wad of cash to pay for the wine, smokes and a couple porn mags——I have to wait on this dirt bag twice since the clerk has to start a new ticket for him. The least the stores could do would be “EBT only “ registers. Most of my buying fortunately, so far anyway, is from places that don’t take EBT cards.
