McCain: Review Ariz. 'stand your ground' laws

Arizona Sen. John McCain says his home state should review its "stand-your-ground" law in the wake of George Zimmerman's acquittal in the shooting death of Florida teen Trayvon Martin.

The Republican senator said he trusted the jury's judgment in the case, but added Sunday on CNN's "State of the Union" that the law "may be something that needs to be reviewed."

Does he think that applies to Arizona?

"Yes, I do and I’m confident that members of the Arizona legislature will," McCain said.

He said he did not share Sen. Ted Cruz's view that President Obama's remarks on "stand-your-ground" laws represented another administration approach to gun control.

"I respect his view, but I don’t frankly see the connection," McCain said of his Texas Republican colleague.

I can’t wait for this loser to be gone. He’s in the same category as Ted Kennedy in the damage he’s done to our country.

“I respect his view, but I don’t frankly see the connection,” McCain”

Feinting ignorance and lying through his teeth. The people
who elected this jacka$$, should be ashamed of themselves
and hide their faces in public. I wish Cruz would demand
McJacka$$ switch his party affiliation. He’s beyond RINO.
He’s just plain tard.

Under our Constitution, the legislature is supposed to give McCain orders, not the other way around. Stupid 17th Amendment.

“One word: Dementia”

I almost wish it were so, but it is not. Last election I observed Senator McCain closely for about an hour. He was sharp, knew what he was talking about, and at the top of his game.

The only reason that I can come up with is that he is a lifelong progressive.

McCain should NEVER have been put in charge of anything.

That whole “vote for me,I’m a war hero” is such a load of crap.

A lousy flier who got shot down while disobeying mission instructions, and had already crashed a couple planes, isn’t someone proven to idolize.

It would be better if Arizona reviewed its choices for the U.S. Senate.

Arizona Sen. John McCain says his home state should review its "stand-your-ground" law in the wake of George Zimmerman's acquittal in the shooting death of Florida teen Trayvon Martin.

Why? SYG wasn't in play in the Florida case, so how is that case supposed to provide any new information for anyone to use in reviewing SYG laws? And furthermore, if SYG had been in play, it's still right, so what's to review?

The AZ state legislature should send him a stinging letter of rebuke and tell him to mind his own business.

When are all those old Arizona codgers going to vote this carbuncle out.!?! He’s downright embarrassing. Damn they must be downright daft to put up with stuff!

It cost him $20 a vote to win the '10 primary (Money contributed by conservatives willing to take even him over Obama, and which he then sat on and threw the election. Ass.)

I doubt he'll run for reelection anyway. In 2016 he'll be 80, plus like I said it cost him a fortune to win this time.

This would be like saying every state should review all the laws and regulations for road work every time there is an accident in another state....that wasn't even on a road.

What stands out for me, more than his sheer idiocy, is his apparent disdain for Ted Cruz. Could he be anymore obvious in his resistance to what is right for this country?!

This inner party bickering by mc cain, graham, mc connell and all the puppies who trail boehner, is so destructive and I’m sick to death of it. Oh yea, I forgot, we are the coo coo birds or something like that. What a drag these guys are on our side.

The McCain family, including his direct ancestor, were slaveholders. He said he was unaware of this until his 2000 campaign.
