Jobs Crisis Far Worse Than Official Data Show, Former Official Says
Investor's Business Daily ^ | July 19, 2013 | IBD Editorial Staff

Posted on 07/20/2013 6:34:29 PM PDT by Innovative

While it barely got mentioned by the mainstream media mob, Hall says the plunging employment-to-population ratio leads him to believe the real rate of unemployment is much higher than 7.6% — perhaps 10.6%.

Hall notes that June's 58.7% employment-to-population ratio is actually lower than when the recession began at the end of 2007.

"And according to our biggest job creators, small business owners, government is playing a big role in holding back the economy," he added.

Sadly, despite ample evidence their policies have failed, President Obama and the progressive wing of the Democratic Party plunge recklessly ahead with their plans to regulate, tax and control the economy to death.

This disregards the hiring which companies are doing, in other countries.

American jobs, are being sent to foreign countries.

Bring back American jobs.

Thanks.

"Similarly, we prefer to believe that the dynamic, entrepreneurial, 4% to 5% GDP growth economy that existed in the past is poised to return after a few more months of QE. To reach this conclusion one must ignore the ugly reality of what we have become. The staggering growth in government debt, the persistence of high unemployment, the stifling effects of new rounds of anti-business regulations, the existence of dangerous asset bubbles, and our dependence on zero percent interest rates and continuous Federal Reserve purchases of treasury and mortgage debt qualify our current economy as a walking zombie."

Local story that I found particularly irritating.

Faster Horses Festival: Higgins Lake woman quits job for chance to see Luke Bryan

BROOKLYN, MI – Luke Bryan or work?

When push came to shove, Anndi Seibert of Higgins Lake really didn’t have to think hard about the choice. She chose Bryan.

Seibert was scheduled to work all weekend at the Super 8 motel near Higgins Lake, but when her husband, Nick Seibert, told her his friend canceled on plans to attend the Faster Horses Festival at Michigan International Speedway, Anndi jumped at the opportunity.

Gee I sure hope this doesn't screw up her chance to draw unemployment.

Bring back American jobs and STOP programs like H1B, where instead of sending jobs to India, Indians are brought here to take our IT jobs.

In January of 2013, we had roughly 135 million government and private sector workers.

I ran the numbers and we should have at least 175 million workers if traditional job growth were still taking place in the U. S.

7%? 10%? Try 23% unemployment. That’s a fairly accurate number. It includes those who gave up.

What isn’t addressed, is the underemployment. How many people are working in jobs where one of the following two situations exist?

1. They work far fewer hours at the same hourly rate they used to get.

2. They make far less per hour, but work nearly 40 hours per week.

I would wager that upwards of 50% of our population is either not working, or making about 50 to 75% of what they did pre 2000.

Here’s a link to the figures I’m mentioning here.

We’ve been in a full fledged DEPRESSION for a while, but between the government lying about employment, and the media covering for their boy, no one will acknowledge it. The only real stats you can believe that begin to show the depth of the problem are those showing the explosion of people on foodstamps. Bernanke has been covering everything by printing and pumping money at historic rates.

Sadly, the Republican aristocracy wants the same.

“.......Yet, Obama plans to visit Warrensburg on Wednesday to talk about the economy......”

This is a small college town, that has Vicki Hartzler, Republican, US House Rep, that defeated that so called conservative Ike Skelton.

Obama did not win Missouri in either of his two elections. Something weird is afoot.

The figures have always disregarded foreign hiring.
Give it a rest.

Unionize, price yourself out of the market, and deal with the consequences.

Funny thing, delusional union types, when setting their own value, always guess astronomically high. Several times what they are actually worth.

I suspect that I am far from the only person in the workforce that is ridiculously underemployed with little chance to move up to a level in line with my qualifications and experience. I have spent several years trying to move up to the next level where I work, but the company restructured job classifications and the next level was brought down to me. The people who were at the next level are facing major pay cuts if they don’t move to the new next level, so of course they will get preference over me.

Sorry, but that's awry. President You Didn't Build That's and the Democratic [sic] party's policies have not failed. They're succeeding very well. Their plans "to regulate, tax and control the economy to death" are right on schedule.

Their goals have nothing to do with recovery from the Obama Depression and everything to do with destroying American constitutionalism and law, freedom, capitalism, individualism, exceptionalism, et cetera. That's what Marxists do!

True 23% unemployment, yet Zero and Mooch can take a $100 MILLION DOLLAR VACATION IN AFRICA.

If these people had even half a conscience, they'd evict themselves from our White House.

They may be enjoying the ride now, but in the backs of their minds, in the depths of those clinkers they call their souls, they know payback’s gonna be a cast-iron beach.

Very hot, too...

Re: “The figures have always disregarded foreign hiring.”

But not when the foreigners come here to work.

From memory.....

About 500,000 new Green Cards are issued each year.

About 300,000 new work visas are issued each year.

About 1 million new citizens are created each year.

Bottom line.....

The number of low skill, low education LEGAL workers in the USA has gone up dramatically in the last 15 years.

The number of low skill, low education JOBS in the USA has gone down significantly in the last 15 years.

More workers + fewer jobs = lower pay + higher unemployment.

Great media coverup, we are in a depression and have been for quite some time, long enough for the govt to enlist more of the population on dependency. When this is almost complete they will make an anouncement and the throngs of depenedent will have to bow to thier new masters or go hungry
