Rep. Paul Ryan said Thursday that Republicans are taking care not to “push” illegal immigrants to become American citizens as part of any comprehensive immigration reform package.

“We don’t want to push people into citizenship,” Ryan said in an interview with KFYR 550 in Bismarck, N.D.

Ryan said immigrants are more interested in finding jobs than in becoming citizens.

“Most people just want to have a legal status so they can work to provide for their families,” he said.

You're right! Biden was a complete smirking clown & buffoon & bully in the debate..... and Ryan looked like a smacked down teen-ager, unable to effectively debate or shut down Biden & his stupid antics. Another long list of Repubs who are unwilling & unable to do bare-knuckles battle with ruthless demoRATs.

And now Ryan has picked up where Rubio left off, carrying the amnesty battle on behalf of the RAT bastard demoRATs.

It's not only the (D)s. The (R) elites are there also. The "Two-Party Cartel" bought & owned by the same elites determine the show. 98% in CONgress are corrupt.

Both Rubio and Ryan have become the face of the immigration bill for the Republicans. Both are taking (or will take in Ryan’a instance) a beating in their popularity with the base.

Sad thing is, they don’t seem to realize it will sink their political aspirations. We are losing two rising stars in the Republican party.

I liked Mitt but Paul Ryan was a weak weak WEAK choice for VP. The Peter Principle would apply to him. He’s really gone about as far as he’s capable.

I’ll never vote for him or Rubio on a national ticket now. I held my nose and voted for McLame (really against Obama). Ryan weighed down the republican ticket this past election.

That article is chilling. Who the heck are these people and how the heck do they continue to undermine everything!

I am so livid with Ryan, never ever expected him to go so far off the rails.

"Most people just want to have a legal status”

This is 100% correct. Most illegals do not want citizenship. It is the Democrats that want them to have citizenship.

yep...
My great grandfather on my mother’s side fled the famine in Ireland, came to America, joined the Army, fought at Manasses,
Got wounded, Got patched up, fought is a couple more battles, got wounded again, was mustered out, went home to Boston, Joined the National Guard, Fought the Great Boston Fire, became a Citizen, and died at a ripe old age from too much whiskey.

My father’s side were Injuns, so they had their own ideas about illegal immigrants! LOL!

Ryan needs to wake up and realize we don’t want Congress pushing Americans into another amnesty debacle.

How about being bi-partisan and both parties pushing them out of the country but letting them come back legally a year later.

Ryan said immigrants are more interested in finding jobs than in becoming citizens

And when they can't find jobs, they will join the black underclass and the rest of the Democrat party moocher base and vote Democrat in exchange for "free stuff" handed over to them by their Democrat politicians in exchange for their votes.

Thanks, Paul Ryan, you sick scumbag.

Because they are liars.

We were fooled, conned. Whether or not we continue to allow ourselves to be lied to when we know we are being lied to is going to be the test.

And it is a pass or fail test.

I think that our government is lying to us to an extent that we cannot even begin to fathom.

I think we are deep, serious danger.

Ryan simply said we don’t need a special pathway to citizenship to fix our immigration system,” said the spokesperson, Kevin Seifert.

??? I was looking for some direct quotes from Ryan that contradict this (Ryan saying that illegals must have citizenship), but most of the articles say things like he is "working behind the scenes" or quote hearsay from characters such as Gutierrez. I listened to the Levin interview but didn't hear anything about citizenship vs. legalization.

"Paul Ryan says we cannot have a permanent underclass of Americans, that there needs to be a pathway to citizenship," says Rep. Luis Gutierrez, D-Ill., who has been working relentlessly on immigration legislation. "He is my guiding light. I know I get him in trouble every time I say it."

Maybe Ryan is reacting to blowback? Did Gutierrez lie about Ryan?
